I still have the science lab seating with me. I was nervous. Being one of the only African American in a Hispanic school is nerve racking. I've dated a lot of Hispanic girls but I've always felt sort of awkward . When I first met you I was kind of curious about you. You were quiet and nice to everyone but you had an aura of darkness surrounding you.

I look over at the girl."Ummm hi, I guess we should start now." Some how I get the feeling that this girl doesn't like me.

"Sure, let's start. We have to slice the stomach of the pig first." She said coldly. Wow this girl is all business.

"Um sure lets do it."Most girls are more casual towards me but this girl seems to care less. It makes me feel awkward.

I dissect the pig and we identify the body parts. Gross. The girl does most the work but I do my share.

"Yikes that wasn't pretty." I give her what my mom calls the "Golden boy smile". Other girls start glancing at my table. The guys also. Then Dave says
"Snagged another one eh Jamal?" The whole class burst out laughing. Or at least the guys.

"Dave, if you have something to share to the class you may also share it with the vice." Mr.Karthy our science teacher says in a quiet but deadly voice. Dave grins high fives his friends and leaves the class room.

I notice that my lab partner is blushing.

I write a note and pass it to her."Hey ignore Dave he's an idiot."

She scribbles something on the paper and passes it back."Thanks, he's so dumb.By the way my name is Bianca."

The bell rings, finally school is over. I walk to my locker. Then Lisa and her other friend saunter over to me. She was also my ex and most the guys wondered why I broke up with her. She smiles at me.

"Hey Jamal, are you and Bianca a thing?" She asks.

"What! No." She touches my arm lightly but I don't say anything.

"Well in that case you've always got me." She smiles. Lisa isn't afraid to ask a guy out in front of everyone which sort of scares me. Other guys watch in envy too.

Lisa frowns and tips her head to the side. "Aww no babe? Well maybe next time." Then she hugs me and the guys go wild. I hug back only because I feel bad for leaving her. But I won't ever date her just because I feel bad for her. I see Lisa walking and catch her eye. She turns her head away and continues walking.

"Eyyy if it isn't the go-getter!" I know that voice even before I turn around. My best friend Finn.
"You gotta teach me how you do it someday."

"Damn right" Says my other best friend Morris. We all laugh and get on the T7 train.

"But seriously, are you dating Bianca." Finn grinned.

"Relax I'm still a bachelor." I laugh.

"By the way it's totally obvious that Lisa still likes you. There are guys that would kill to date that girl." Finn finishes.

"How could you have rejected the hottest girl in the school." Morris adds.

"I would've been after her in a flash." Finn continues.

"Hey guys it's my stop, later." I say.

"Peace dude."

"Yeah later."
