   ー gossip girl.

after a day of being back in the city, serena already felt like an outsider. Her best friend of all people had been less than thrilled to see her back, and her mother had been making secret trips to the hospital since she had been hiding Serena's younger brother Eric away there. After Eric had tried to kill himself Lily Van Der Woodsen had been more concerned about being a respectable mother and decided to keep Eric's attempt in the dark. More so to protect her image rather than his. And after a long, uncomfortable night spent in a chair by her brothers side, Serena had barley woken in time for school.

Before giving Eric a kiss on the forehead goodbye, Serena figured that yesterday since her appearance had been a surprise, everyone must have just been a bit frazzled; and things would be better today. As she made her way to the MET where she and Blair had always met before school, she still felt a bit hurt that Blair hadn't been the least bit happy to have seen her the other day. And speak of the devil, "Hey B," Serena smiled waltzing up the MET steps where Blair and her minions sat. Blair looked up unamused and slightly rolled her eyes. "Hello Serena," she mustered.

"You look busy. What are you up to," the blonde asked referring to the dozens of envelopes and sparkly pens sitting in her friends lap. "We're sending out invitations to the Kiss On The Lips party," Penelope, the Latina minion #1 interjected before Blair could answer for herself. "Oooo, kiss on the lips ! Sounds fun. What's the theme, I'll have my mom pick up a dress after school," she asked. Blair looked at her minions, pursed her lips, and then looked up at Serena.

"Um, actually S; you're kinda not invited. We had no idea that you were coming back so we've filled up already. So, there's no room for you. Sorry," Blair sighed with fakeness. Serena looked at her friend and could tell she was lying. But nodded anyways. "Oh. That's ok. I probably need to just relax anyways, you know, first days back and all," she mumbled preparing to take a seat near the girls only to find no spot open. "Oh no. Looks like there's no room. I'm sorry S. Guess we're just not used to having you here anymore," Blair fake pouted as she shrugged.

Spotted on the steps of the MET, an S and B power struggle. Did S waltz home and think things would be just like they were ? Did B think S would go down without a fight ? Or can these two hotties work it out ? There's nothing Gossip Girl likes more than a cat fight, and this could be a classic.

Serena couldn't believe this. Blair was her best friend. But she didn't have time to deal with this. "Um. Ok. I'll uh- I guess I'll just see you in class," she sadly smiled awkwardly walking away. But that was false. Serena would not see Blair in class later on because for the rest of the day Blair never spoke a word to her. In fact, the rest of the day was just a mess in and of itself. Everyone stared and whispered to one another all day and her mind was all fuzzy so everything teachers spoke of today hadn't registered.

And by the end of the day Serena was drained. But not drained enough to approach Blair before going home. "Hey, do you think we could go somewhere to talk," she asked. The brunette swiveled around and raised an eyebrow. "Can't. I have plans with Harry," she said sharply. Serena rolled her eyes a tad. "B it's important," she pressed. Blair jutted out her hip and looked to her minions. After a moment she told S she could only sneak away an hour or so, so the two left for Serena's hotel/current residence.

After arriving and taking a seat at the bar, Blair refused to look at Serena. "Um, so how's your mom doing with the divorce and everything," Serena tried. Blair took a sip from the martini she had ordered with her fake id before answering. "She's great. My dad left her for another man, one of her models actually. She lost 15, and got an eye lift, she shrugged. Serena saddened. "I'm really sorry," she told her friend genuinely. She hadn't been here when it had happened.

"Yeah I could tell since you didn't write, call, or text the entire time it was happening," Blair sneered. Serena sighed. "No I- I know. I was just- boarding school is like-" she began before Blair interrupted her. "I don't even know why you went to boarding school to begin with. Do you know how it felt calling your house when you didn't show up at school and having your mom say 'Serena didn't tell you that she moved to Connecticut'," she snapped. Serena shut her eyes and breathed out. She felt bad, she honestly did. But these were things she couldn't quite explain to Blair right now.

"I just- I needed to go. I need to get away from everything. Please, just trust me," she tried explaining. "How can I trust you when I feel like I don't even know you," Blair whispered. That one panged at Serena's heart. "Let's fix that. I miss you. I just want things to go back to the way they used to be- you know. Walking to school together, dancing on table tops at bungalow, night swimming at your moms country house ! You were like my sister. You know, and with our families.... we need each other" she said honestly.

Blair stared at her; her eyes softening. "You haven't been here. But you're here now," she said. And Serena knew she had won her over. She set her phone on the table as they both stood up and hugged one another. They held on tightly almost not wanting to let go. "Well, I have to meet Harry. It's kind of special," Blair blushed. Serena understood and walked her best friend home. When they departed they promised to call each other later; and it was almost like it had been year ago all over again.

As Blair rode the elevator up and eventually ran up the steps to her room she thought about how much she had missed S. But all that left her mind when she found Harry in her room. "I thought we weren't meeting until later tonight. Couldn't wait though I suppose. While neither can I," B smirked tearing off her skirt and top. But Harry stood up and stopped her. He looked serious, and almost frightened. "What. What's wrong. This is perfect right," she asked now worried herself.

"Um, I don't really know how to say this, or if it's even the right thing to do, but um.... there's something I need to tell you," he stuttered. Blair ran her hands up and down his shoulders. "What, what is it. You're scaring me," she half joked. "Wow. Ok. Last year, at the Shepherd's wedding, Serena and I went to the bar during the reception. She was drunk and I was a little buzzed and-," he just shook his head. Blair looked at him, astonished. "But, that was it. You guys kissed," Blair said for self reassurance.

But as she watched Harry gulp and look down at his feet with no response, she knew. And shook her head as tears began to over flow. No. No. No. Harry reached out to touch Blair's cheek but she flung his hands away. "I knew it ! I always knew there was something ! Get out !," Blair screamed sobbing. Harry looked at her hurt, but knew he had to go. She needed to be alone. Blair fell to the floor and sobbed. She clutched a pillow as if it were her lifeline and cried. Because for the first time ever, Blair felt weak.
