Mariana and Cole sat in the living room for hours at a time. There was no socializing between the two, only short intense glances were shared. Usually, if you're being held hostage in your own house or anywhere, your kidnapper would be a little bit more violent then calm as Cole was at this moment. Not that anybody would want a crazed and violent kidnapper but this just seemed very surreal and boring.
Coco found her way onto Mariana's lap sometime in between the hours. He perched himself just between her legs as he laid gnawing at her fingertips. She picked him up between her hands making Coco dance sloppily. She smiled lightly as she found amusement in this. She made Coco kick his legs as she forcefully made him dance in front of her. His little legs moved frantically the more she played with him. Coco barked softly as he wagged his tail, panting with excitement. Mariana chuckled a little louder than expected directing Cole's attention over to her. He rolled his eyes glaring at her before harshly throwing a pillow cushion in her direction. She gasped loudly at the impact. Coco fell between her legs while she clutched onto her head, her eyes glowed with pure anger. She found the pillow Cole threw at her and hauled it back in his direction but unfortunately missed. Cole's eyes held amusement for a brief moment before flickering back to cold and devious. She huffed aggravated picking up Coco again.
The television still played, only now Cole had switched to the news channel a couple minutes ago. Nothing serious came on until the one and only famous news story popped up on the screen. The news anchor retold a specific story of a young man who carves his signature into his unrecognizable victims. Mariana remembered the initials she heard being carved into the victims, CV before briefly remembering Cole's initials. CV. Same initials carved into the women.
Mariana's hands started to become clammy the more she thought about it. She zoned out thinking of all the possible ways it could be him. The mysterious man standing in her house, holding her captive in her own home. Her throat dry, body sweating, eyes searching for an escape, another weapon before locking eyes with the gun on the wooden table across from Cole.
She spoke without thinking. She asked one of the most daring questions she would probably regret for the rest of her life. "Are you CV?" She gulped, directing her gaze to meet his.
Cole sat perched on the couch, his body stayed stiff and still, eyes focused on the television screen. The house was silent now. The television was on mute. It had been a little over a minute and he still hasn't answered the question. Soon enough, a smirk slightly formed on his pink moist lips, his head finally turned to her, eyes piercing and smile sadist. "You tell me." His voice a ghost of a whisper. His dark chuckles sounded through the room sending Mariana deep chills crawling upon her spine.
His eyes didn't leave hers causing hers to enlarge before looking back down at Coco. Her breath was almost shallow and weak from a simple conversation they shared. Mariana felt almost dizzy like the more she thought of Cole.
"Really what is it you want because I'll give it to you so you could just leave. There isn't much here, I just moved in a couple -"
"Just stop talking, okay." His voice growing slightly as he held a hand up to her. His other hand rubbing his temple. "Your voice is making my head hurt." He snarled lowly.
"Well, your presence is making my head hurt." She murmured to herself quietly.
"What was that?" He asked pointedly. His undivided attention fully on her.
"Nothing." She sighed cradling her new dog in her arms as she rocked him like a baby. Coco yawned looking up at her while she lightly tickled his tummy. His tummy growled lowly as he moved around frantically in her arms. As she rubbed his belly, Mariana smoothly got to her feet but before she made any further movements Cole stopped her.
"Where are you going?" He asked roughly standing on his two feet. Cole glared across the room at her, his hands resting beside his waist.
"The kitchen to get me and my puppy something to eat." Mariana rolled her eyes intentionally.
The kitchen was door was on the other side of the living room. Mariana, unfortunately, has to pass Cole in order to get some type of food for her and Coco. She quietly walked in the direction of the kitchen while his eyes pinned her down every second she walked. The second she walked in front of him, she could feel his warm breath on her neck. His presence lingered over her the closer she seemed to him. His body closely followed behind hers making sure she wasn't going to make an escape. Mariana promptly moved her way into the kitchen as Cole rested his body against the door frame watching her like a lion looks at a wildebeest before it feeds.
"Make me something since you're cooking." He told her.
"I'm not your maid, do it yourself." She snapped setting Coco onto the floor. Her curls bounced about as she scurried to the cabinets for anything edible to eat.
"You know I would advise you to watch your tongue but don't you think it would be more fun to see what this gun would do if I just angled in this direction." He dangled the silver gun in his hands touching it as if it was a prize, his eyes wandered over the gun before smirking up at her aiming it carelessly in her direction. Mariana gulped silently wishing she would have listened to him. "That's what I thought. Make me something to eat, I won't ask you again."
Time flew as Mariana picked up the chopping knife and cut the vegetables into perfect small pieces, every motion was precise from the intense repetition of them all, at least that's what Mariana had thought. She picked out grains of rice separating the pure clean ones to the bad rotting ones. Cleaned and seasoned all meat needed for her dish. Coco sat patiently on the floor wagging his cute tail as he stared up at her cook her masterpiece. Cole intriguingly watched from amongst the door. His posture wasn't stiff or alert but calm and almost inviting. He let his guard down as he watched her silently cook for the three of them. The kitchen was filled with cooking utensils being clattered against the ingredients. Time quickly flew by the more Mariana began to cook and before she knew it everything was done. The moment she grabbed a plate she served a small platter of food to Coco. Pork chops, baked chicken, green beans, spinach and baked potatoes.
"I don't know if you should eat this but you are hungry so eat up." Mariana's delicate little fingers ran through Coco's fur for a brief second as she set the plate down for him. Coco yelped loudly the minute his mouth devoured the food from the plate giving Mariana a bright smile. She pressed her small lips against his head as he ate.
Swiftly going back over to the counter Mariana grabbed another plate. Cole's plate this time. It sent shivers down her spine thinking about him as she poured out the stir-fried rice, vegetables, pork chops, baked chicken and ham. Slowly turning around she jumped, alarmed at the closeness of Cole standing before her, burning holes into her face. Mariana had almost knocked the full plate of food to the floor while Cole stood firmly. He gripped the plate in Mariana's hand before it had the chance to topple over almost spilling the contents on the floor. Cole's hooded blue eyes studied Mariana's hesistant brown eyes as he steadied her and the plate briefly looking back down at his plate of food and then her. One of his arms circled their way around her waist as he steadied her for the sudden gesture Mariana hadn't noticed. She gasped looking up in his stormy eyes, caught off guard from his alarming movements and of being so close to him, she had swiftly turned around to gain more space but she was trapped. Cole's body only pressed further into hers. Mariana could feel almost every body part of Cole's from how close he was. His arms, hands, abs, chest, nipples, legs and even his ... yeah.
... Did it just .. twitch?
Cole leaned down to her ear level, his arm still circled around her waist, hand gently resting on her stomach. Mariana quickly touched his arm.
"Thank you." He whispered huskily in her ear gently giving her a squeeze around the waist. His body lingered for a couple more seconds slowly retreating back into the living room with his plate of food. Mariana was left speechless, his hands felt as if they were still lingering around her torso.
