August

"August. My mama just cooked some baked chicken with macaroni and cheese." My nigga Jayden said over the phone.

"Why you telling me this? " Jayden chuckle on the other line. "We both know you ain't cooking shit tonight." I laughed shaking my head. He was right.

I ain't cooking shit tonight. "Alright. I'll be there. " It was quite on the other line until I heard yelling. "Stop fucking playing so much, Taylor!"

Taylor? I haven't seen her in 7 months.

"Shut up complaining." I heard Taylor said.

"Uh... Jayden."

"Yeah man?"

"I'll see you later." The line went silent again. "Alright fam. See you later."

I hung up the phone and tossed it on the bed. When the phone hit the bed it started ringing. I looked at the caller ID and smile. I answered the phone. "What's up, baby"

Maly sighed. "August, I can't do this no more." My heart skipped a beat or two. "W-why you said that?"

"I don't know....just delete my number from your phone." And after that she hung up.

What the fuck! How she's just gonna call me and say she can't do this no more and not give a reason behind it. Right after I told her I was starting to love her... I swear!

I shook my head and walked in my bathroom to start my shower. I should put my anger on Jayden since he hook Maly and I up but that sounds like a bitch move.

"Damn son, you gotten taller. Taller than me." Jackson chuckled. He was Jayden's father. I looked up to him when I was kid. Having no father in your life and having a step dad on drugs really had me going growing up as a child. Jackson stepped up and decided to treat me as if I was his son.

"Being 5'9 is tall? I wouldn't have known?" I looked over to Jayden. He rolled his eyes and flicked me off. Little nigga just mad that he's 5'6.

"I'm still shocked that you didn't try out for the basketball team in high school." Jackson said.

"Why does everyone thinks just because you're tall, you have to join the basketball?" Jayden questioned.

I laughed "Bro, get out your feelings. I didn't asked this be this tall." Jayden chuckled.

"I didn't asked to be this short."

~~~~~~~~~~~~
I stuffed my mouth with Mac and cheese. "Damn, Darlene. You added some secret shit in your Mac and cheese during the past 7 months?"
She giggled. "My Mac and cheese always tasted the same."
"Mama stop lying." Jayden said take a sip from his drink.
"Boy hush up." Darlene looked at Taylor.
"Taylor, put that damn phone up and eat." She looked at her screen and put her phone in her pocket.
"Sorry mama." She put up her fork. "Who you be texting, baby girl." Jackson asked.
Taylor shook her head. "No one. Just my friends."
Jayden chuckle. "You have friends?" I punched him in his arm. "The hell man!" He rubbed his arm looking at me. Taylor looked at her fork and got up from the table. "Where you going?" I asked.
"Bathroom."
During the rest of the dinner, Taylor stayed upstairs. Jayden wanted to check on her but his parents said don't. She been like that ever since Jayden moved out and when she found out she needed braces.
The Jayden part I understand. Her needing braces I don't understand. She looks pretty with braces. It makes her look a little bit older for some reason.
Last time I saw Taylor, she was this little girl with no ass no nothing. Now she grew up a little bit, baby girl got thick.
I smiled a little bit thinking about her appearance. Jayden hit me in my arm, making me look at him. "Why nigga?"
He shrugged and walked away. I told him about Maly and I. He said he should've known. He said since she was 19, she got outta hand. She would used nigga to get what she wanted. Apparently, she didn't get what she wanna from me so she dumped me.
Jayden and I was about to go to the club. I asked him to show me where Taylor's room was at real quick. He showed me and I knocked on her door.
"I'm still not hungry, daddy." She said.
"You calling me daddy now?" I heard her getting out of her bed. Seconds later, she opened her door.
"What do need?" She looked at my dryly.
"I wanna to see if you was okay." I smiled at her. She sighed. "I'm fine."
She started looking down. "You know how irritating Jayden can be so don't pay him no mind." She nodded.
"I know. He could at least said one nice thing to me." I heard her sniffing.
"Are you crying?" She wiped her eyes looking at me. "This is the first time I saw him in 7 months. I tried play fighting with him, like we used to before he went away but he keep telling me to leave him alone. I just want him to show me some attention, August."
I felt bad for her. I was about to give her a hug but Jayden called on me to hurry up. I looked down at Taylor. "I'll talk to him for you, alright?" She looked at me and smiled.
"For real?" I nodded. "Of course. Anything for you, Ma." She gave me a hug and I returned one back.
Why did I feel... Something when she hugged me?
