EVA

I couldn't turn back. I had to keep pressing on until I knew it was absolutely safe. The rain poured down heavy, drenching me through my thin hoodie. The air around smelt crisp and I could inhale the damp earth through my nostrils. I dashed into the trees, leaving no room to be seen. My head and hands felt numb and I could feel myself slipping away. The sudden hunger hit me like a wave, knocking me off balance. The sudden noise of branches snapping brought me back to focus. I looked around crazed and afraid.

"Who's there?"

They found me. And they were going to take me away. It felt useless to run. I was weak and hungry. My vision blurred as a tall figure approached me. My knees gave out and I fell to the ground, mud now splashing onto my jeans. I didn't look up. I sat there waiting with fear and despair flowing through my heart. Everything seemed so out of focus.

I could hear someone's voice shouting for my attention. "Eva is that you?"

My eyes shot up recognizing the voice instantly. I smiled softly and my eyes began to feel heavy.

"Edward."

Soon all I could see was darkness.

EDWARD

I couldn't believe what I was seeing. From a distance, the resemblance was cunning, until I realized it was actually her. I picked her up in my arms, holding her limp body close. Her clothes we ripped, bloodied, and covered in filth.

"What the hell is going on?"

Her lip and cheeks were cut and her neck bruised. It was hard to believe that she was the girl I had known for so long. She looked so lost and scared.

"Evangelina, can you hear me, love?"

I watched as her eyes fluttered opened and closed. I could tell she was having a hard time staying awake, but I needed to know what was going on.

"What happened to you E? Can you understand what I'm saying?"

She looked at me unresponsive. I decided to take her home where she could rest and then be able to comprehend what ever happened. I kept walking through the rain, the cold not bothering me, until I could see my home in the distance. I smiled to myself, pleased that it didn't take as long to get home as I expected.

"Dad?"

I turned around to see my Renesmee and Jacob watching me incredulously.

"What are you two doing out here in the rain?"

Renesmee watched me carefully. "I went to go feed and Jacob volunteered to go with me. We were just on our way back to the house. Who is that you're holding?"

I ignored her question. "Is your mother or Carlisle home?"

"Everyone is mostly out doing their own thing, but grandpa Carlisle had to stay behind to get some work done before he goes back to the hospital in the morning."

I sighed in relief. "Alright good. At least he's here to help me out."

Renesmee stared at me impatiently. "Dad who is that?"
