EVA

I couldnt stop running. Not until I knew it was safe. Even as the heavy rain drenched through to my thin hoodie I kept pressing on. The cold crisp air hurt to inhale, and I could feel my lungs slowly giving out. Where was I? How far had I gotten? How much longer until the stench of death stops following me? I kept dashing through the trees, leaving no room to be spotted. My head and hands felt numb and the faster I ran the more I could feel myself slipping away. The sudden hunger hit me like a wave, knocking me off balance. I fell to the ground hard, mud dirtying my ripped-up shorts. The sudden noise of branches snapping brought me back to focus and I was quickly back on my feet.

I looked around crazed and afraid calling out, "Who's there?"

They found me and they were going to force me to go back. I prayed it wasnt her. It felt useless to run. I was weak and hungry, with no fight left in me. My vision began to blur as a tall figure began to loom over me. I began to sway, and my knees finally gave out, bringing me to the ground once again. I couldnt bring myself to look up at my attacker. I sat there waiting shivering. From the cold or my fear, I didnt know anymore. Everything seemed so out of focus. This was really the end.

Suddenly I could hear a familiar voice screaming for my attention. "Eva is that you?"

My eyes shot up in recognition. Slowly bringing my eyes up to the figures frame, I was met with a face I loved dearly. My Eddie. He couldnt be real. My Edward died of sickness. I smiled. The first genuine smile in years. Shortly after darkness followed.

EDWARD

I couldnt believe what I was seeing. She couldnt be real. At first, I thought it was only someone who resembled her. But after seeing into her mind there was no doubt in mine. This was her. Millions of thoughts racked my brain as I stood there thinking of ways this was possible. None of that was important now though. I picked her up in my arms holding her limp body close. Her clothes were ripped, bloodied and covered with God knows what else. I could only imagine how long she had been stuck out here in the cold and pouring rain.

"Can you hear me E? What happened to you? How did you end up here?" I was desperate for answers. Answers she could only give me. But that seemed impossible in her current state. She laid still in my arms like a dead weight, mumbling incoherently and in pain. I watched as her eyes fluttered open and closed. I could tell she was having a hard time staying awake. Thats when it dawned on me. I could feel her heartbeat against my body. I could hear the blood rushing through her veins. What the hell was going on?

"Dad?"

I turned around to see Renesmee and Jacob. Their eyes bore into mine then glanced down at the helpless girl in my arms. "What are you two doing out here in the rain?" I asked. My daughter watched me carefully, sneaking glances at Eva. "I needed to feed, and Jake offered to come with. Who the hell are you holding?"

Ignoring her question, I asked my own. "Is your mother or Carlisle home?"
Ness glared at me in annoyance. She knew I was holding back information and I could tell she didnt like how close I seemed to Eva. She would just have to wait to get her answers.
Begrudgingly she replied, "Mom is out with Alice and Jasper right now. Grandpa is in his office doing paperwork."

I sighed in relief. Alright good. At least hes here to help me out.

Renesmee huffed in annoyance. "Tell me who she is Dad!" I looked down at the lifeless body in my arms and felt as though if I still could I would be bawling my eyes out right now.
"Shes my best friend. Well, she was before I turned. She needs a doctor."
Ness glanced at her again. "Isnt she one of us?" Adjusting her in my arms I shrugged lightly. She has a heartbeat so she must be human.
