Ally's POV:
I was now on my way to the deck with an unusual map my dad gave me. It was made out of thin soft fabric that made my fingers tingle on contact. He said he found it long ago and decided I should be the one to find out the truth within it. Our good byes were sorrowful. He told me if the maps indications were true, I was to stay at my destination for my own safety and knowledge. Apparently the map showed the way to a magical reef were mer-people lived untouched by humans.
But that was not the only reason I was off. I was also on the lookout for a familiar face upon any ships. She was the only other person that knew my secret.
I walked my way towards the dock at the back of my house where boats were tied. I stopped at the end of a deck between two huge boats that hid any view of me from any prying eyes. I sat down and slid my legs over the edge so they swung freely. I took off my shorts and the lace that held my hair back, letting lose my long strait pale locks up to my hips. I cleared my mind and thought of swimming in the cool water that would engulf me. My body started tingling and I held my breath. A numbing sensation took over my legs and chest. When it stopped I opened my eyes and found my silver-blue tale glistening in the sun. I moved my hair off of my chest and unstrapped my bra exposing tiny scales that covered my breasts the same color as my tale. I spotted my underwear around my waist but the bottom was ripped. I didn't feel like taking it off and sitting my naked butt on a nasty deck.
I ripped one of the sides and tossed the rest of my clothes in the water and watched it sink. No longer any evidence of me being at the dock. I slid off and dived in, following the path I took so many times to get out of range of the whole port. The water here was clear and just a tiny bit cold. I swam to the bottom were my eyes immediately adjusted to the dark and praised my slim figure for fitting between small reefs. Most of the way to the open sea I swam with a couple of fish. I saw a ship further ahead and decided to go investigate it in case the person holding my precious secret was there. The only problem would be if the wild mermaid side of me decided that one of the men on aboard would taste good. If that were to happen, no one could stop me. It's been an ongoing issue since I turned 13. Most of the men that I took emitted black auras due to whatever evil deed they committed in their lives.
I grabbed onto the side of the ship; it wasn't moving. I lifted myself up so that I peeked from one of the holes in the wooden railing. That's when I saw a man, who I assumed to be the captain, grabbing a child by a collar and throwing him to the side. I flinched. A woman began weeping loudly on the other side on her knees. She had a bruise on her cheek and a split lip. The man was tall and thin but looked powerful. I widened my eyes in horror when I saw a dark aura radiating off him. My mermaid instinct screamed at me.
Eat... Imagine how he would taste like... You've starved me for too long... Devour him...
I felt pressure on my teeth, they wanted him too. He charged below the deck and I lowered myself to take a closer look through the window below. He was in a room knocking things down in a rampage. I gave into the darkness inside me and played with my vocal chords just loud enough for him to hear, and then I lowered myself into the sea. His dazed-self looked out the window as I sang staring right into his eyes. His pupils widened and he dived in. I went under water before he poked his head back up and as he searched for me I popped up in front of him, humming lovingly. He closed his eyes and that's when I attacked, making my whole world go black.

I woke up on a sand bed and memories of that happened before the blackout flooded through my mind. I felt guilty but what was done, was done. I couldn't change it and there was no use dwelling over what happened. I swam through a dark reef and saw a dark figure at the far right so I turned to see what it was. Nothing. I must be imagining things. Again I felt a dark figure pass behind me and I turned back around. Just darkness. Suddenly a huge mass was hurdling towards me at my left. I quickly swam out of the way and I couldn't believe my eyes.
A huge shark just brushed passed by my fin. It must have smelled the blood from the man I mauled. The shark turned and was coming straight at me again. I swam as fast as I could to an island that I passed by earlier. When I got to it there was a giant rock wall and the waves kept rushing into it. I could sense the shark nearby and turned the corner to hide but shock ran through me as I did. On the other side was a boulders stacked on top of each other creating a wall underwater and stopped at the surface. I swam up but my body was slammed against the rocks from the waves but I still climbed up to save my life despite the massive struggle. When I reached the surface the rocks had scratched my waist pretty good and I could see the shark's dorsal fin heading towards me. I still had to pull myself up about five feet over the huge rock. I dragged myself up as the shark jumped at my fin. I moved my tail quickly out of the way but still yelped as I saw its huge head that could have swallowed my tail whole. As soon as I yelped, my eye caught a great big wooden ship rounding the corner of the wall. The tip of it had a grand wooden mermaid and the flag was black with a white outline of a skull and instead of cross bones there were two mermaids. They were my only hope for survival.
Pirates or shark? Might as well take a chance, who knows I could go all bat shit crazy on them. The people on board took no notice of me until I screamed as the shark jumped once again but luckily he missed by a millimeter. I could feel my heart pounding and my fingers slipping. Tears blurred my vision. Was I really going to die out at sea? Me. I was too much in shock to even cry out for help and hope was slipping away right along with my fingers. When out of nowhere I heard someone crying out. I spied a girl that looked about my age. She had tan skin and a brown bandana that had large black curls tumbling down to her waist, a captain's coat hanging off her shoulders.
She looked familiar.
As the ship got closer the shark started circling instead. I was still holding onto the rock with all my might. When they got close enough the shark swam away and two big gutted men threw down a net but held a side so it looked more like a swing. I let go of the rock sliding down. I felt an edge scrape my stomach and as soon I landed in the water I clutched my stomach for a while then I thought of the shark and swam as fast as I could to the side of the ship where they held the net, I could barely swim with the excruciating pain. As soon as the men brought me up on a barrel I heard gasps of more than a couple of people. I'm sure the thought of a tail was boggling. I held my head down not bothering to look at their faces, partly because I was shy and partly because I was trying to stop the blood that was now pooling onto my lap. Many of them were whispering 'rich,' 'sex,' 'fortune,' 'beautiful,' 'creature' and 'siren.'
"Quiet," a strong feminine voice yelled and a hand came to my arm. I looked up, astonished. Could it be? No.... Is it her? I looked at her big brown eyes. It really is!
"Fia," I tried yelling but it came out just above a whisper.
Her eyes widened "Ally?" I nodded and she cradled my head, being careful not to harm me more than I already was.

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO sorry I haven't uploaded since...
I don't even know how long it's been. High school was a nightmare. It drained any part of me that wanted to write. Now that I'm in starting college I hope to upload sooner than the last. Maybe not as often as the amazing authors that are here but you'll definitely see more of me. :)
Again I am so sorry and apologize from the bottom of my fat heart.
