A Mermaid Tale

First story ever! :D yaaaaay!!!

Prologue:

Ally's POV

Once upon a time there was a man called Troy Mortimer.

He owned a book store called, 'Future & Past' which only held books about science, science-Fiction, Non-Fiction to myth books from all over the world despite being a small shop. But his true passion was science, for he was a true scientist at heart. His mother was infertile therefore adopting him and as he grew his curiosity in genetics grew too. His experiments knew no bound and as he came to live near the ocean it spread towards fish.

His first couple of experiments came out still-born until he caught a simple trait that had a large fish egg looking entity growing in his lab. He then moved it to a bath tub. Within nine months a little creature the size of a newborn baby teared its way out of the sack. Its top half looked completely normal, except for the two small patches of small scales covering its chest. It had translucent skin and sandy blonde hair. When it opened its eyes they glowed bright green before fading into a pair of light green orbs with gold strips near the pupil. Once the bottom half came into view he gasped in astonishment, from its waist down, was a small fish tale. He concluded that the small creature was a female with prior knowledge of gender specifying.

He fed her newborn powered milk and decided to call her Ally. Already naming her, he started growing more and more attached, eventually looking upon her as his own daughter. When she turned one her fins and scales shifted into her normal pale skin and legs. He again was amazed as she crawled out of the tub and around the house. Despite showing and explaining to her where she came from she called him 'Daddy.' He found out the hard way that she had to be kept in water, fresh or salt, for at least three hours a day to survive. At age five for normalcy she started kindergarten where she made her first friend, Fia de Luffy.

I am Ally Mortimer and this is my life as a man–eating mermaid.

Fia's POV:

There was once a beautiful, rich family named the 'de Luffy.' Isela and William had a beautiful baby girl which they named Fia. When she was just two years old she could have won the award for feistiest toddler. She was a very difficult child to discipline, running around and screaming, "I can't be tamed!" everywhere she went. For this reason Fia was sent to live in an immense castle where her beloved grandmother lived. Beloved or not she was a force to be reckoned with. Day in and day out she taught Fia etiquette. To behave like a lady should, even at such an age.

When she turned five she started kindergarten. That was when she met Ally Mortimer and discovered her true interest. Adventure. "I want to be a pirate," Fia declared one day after school to her Grandma. Grandma Luffy was outraged to hear such words come out from Fia's mouth. She was baffled that even after all these years Fia was still disobedient. Never before had there been a student she taught that couldn't be domesticated. She knew that something wasn't right. That something or someone was tainting her granddaughter. So she homeschooled her personally, determined to mold her into what Fia was born into, the successor of the 'de Luffy' family. What Grandma Luffy didn't understand was that being a "de Luffy" it was in Fia's blood to be defiant.

As the years passed Fia did learn something of value from her years in the castle with her beloved yet strict grandma. That in the world she lived in, it was all about money, wealth, and fame. She vowed when she turned 16 she would have the life she always wanted. One full of adventure.
