Chapter 5
The woman waited on sidewalk, constantly checking her phone for the time as she practically begged with her eyes for the street lights to let her pass. Her phone light up her place on the sidewalk, continuing to scroll through her news feed. She shifted her weight to her other leg and readjusted her bag full on her shoulder. She glanced up at the red lit up numbers that were counting down, only seven more second before the walking sign would light up.
The sound of loud footsteps reached her ears. She paid no mind to the sounds for it was probably another person waiting for the walking signal. The footsteps suddenly silenced creating an illusion that she was being watched. The woman put her phone in her bag and braced herself to begin walking once the countdown was over.
Only 4 seconds left.
The beating against her chest was suddenly rising and along with it, she began to sweat on her forehead. She felt the sensation that she was being eyed from behind her. The anxiety was building up inside her body. It was released when the countdown ended. She quickly walked across the street where only a few cars had stopped. Her breathing settled when she spotted her residency a few houses away. She was out of the street and continued to walk on the sidewalk.
She began to hear loud footsteps again, this time it was as if they were right next to her. She stopped walking and slowly turned around, ready to face the footsteps. The only thing her eyes were looking at was the concrete path she had been walking on and a few passing cars. Her beating began to rise once again, she had been sure someone was behind her. She looked to her left and right for a few more seconds before turning again to continue her walk home.
The sudden tap on her right shoulder startled her enough to make her back up a few steps. She quickly faced the person who had scared her.
"Oh my god, you scared me to death!" she gasped, feeling relaxed that it was a hot guy around her age instead of some old creepy rapist. She held the longest gaze into his dark brown eyes and could have sworn she had seen a light yellow shine in them, but that was impossible because it was dark outside and his eye color was obviously dark brown.
"I'm very sorry but I think this might be yours." he man held up a red notebook up to her eyes. She looked at it, trying to remember if she had ever seen it but nothing came to mine. The notebook wasn't hers.
"Oh no, it's not mine." She said, looking at the man who simply chuckled with the coldest laugh. Her insides were screaming for her to suddenly run. She took a step back, suddenly feeling fear.
"I could have sworn I saw you drop It." he said, looking at her pale face and trembling fingers holding tightly to her black bag. He licked his lips, forming a smirk on the edge of his mouth.
"No, sorry." The woman took another step back, "look I have to be somewhere, so I'm just going to go." Her feet quickly walked past him, not looking back and only focusing on her home that was only two houses away. Something inside her suddenly willed her legs to stop and turn around.
"Leaving so soon?" the man was suddenly in front of her, flashing that yellow luminescence in his eyes just as she had seen before. Her mouth was quickly covered by his hand before she could have let out a loud scream.
"Shh," he caressed her blond hair, "No need to scream or be afraid sweetheart."
His hot breath made her insides turn as his body closed in on hers. Her mind screamed for her to run away and find help but she couldn't. She bit hard on the large hand and bolted out of his reach, sprinting towards her house. She was almost there when she felt a hard pull on her hair and she was back into a hard body.
