April Fools

Chapter Two ~ The Plan ~

A few days ago....

"Hey, my man wasssuuuup," cried James Rivers, also known as Curly, as he barreled down the hall with the rest of the team.

"Hey man," Richard said as they did their goofy handshake.

James Rivers was also the one all the girls loved. With his wild curls, deep sea green eyes, adorable dimples and bad boy personality he was pretty much an ace in the ladies field.

He was a big time player and marveled at the thought of a good prank. He noticed the, more than usual, longing glances sent his friend's way by Lily, and he had the perfect prank.

Lily was the only girl in the school he hadn't slept with and, surprisingly, he didn't mind. In his words, how can you be sleep with that nerd?

But she did turn him down when he made a move and this prank was the perfect revenge. Actually, his friend Tyler came up with the plan.

Tyler was just like James. Devilishly handsome, slept with almost all the girls in Riverview and was turned down by Lily.

"So, April Fools...." he drawled out. "What we gonna do?"

"I don't know man," Richard said as he got his math books. He was really working hard to get a football scholarship and good grades would definitely help.

"Well we got the perfect one mate," Tyler said as he stared at Lacey Stewart's ass as she strutted down the hall.

"Yeah, so you know crazy, cat lady Lily?" James started.

"Guys, she's not crazy. She just reads, a lot." Richard said defending the girl.

"Dude, all she does is freakin read! Maybe if she looked up she would see how awesome we are!" Curly said referring to the time she turned him down.

"Ok so what do you wanna do man?" He asked getting slightly annoyed, just slightly.

"Well she has the biggest crush on you," he said.

Richard tried to hide the butterflies in his stomach. Just hearing it, wether it was true or not, made his heart flutter.

"No she doesn't," he said.

"Dude you're the only reason she looks up from her books," Tyler replied.

Just then Lily walked down the hall. She was dressed in jeans, gray boots and a Harry Potter shirt with her hair tied up with a pencil. Her glasses were slipping off her nose as she was reading an intense scene in the new Hunger Games book.

"Watch this man," Tyler said. He walked up to her and wrapped his arm around her and said, "Hey pretty lady."

"Go away whoever you are," she said not even glancing once his way. Richard tried to contain his laughter as Tyler walked back.

"Now you're turn," he said.

"What?" He said, but James pushed him forward so they bumped into each other.

"Oof," she said as she walked straight into his chest and her book hit her glasses. They were dangling on her nose and a slight blush crept onto her cheeks.

So adorable! His mind screamed. He kept his cool and muttered, "Sorry."

"Sorry," she also said. And, after a few awkward seconds of each of them trying to come up with something to say, they walked off. It was awkwardly adorable.

The guys gave him a look as he walked back. "Ok so maybe she likes me. What does that have to do with April Fools?" He asked.

"Well you ask her out to the dance after the big game Friday, give her a night she'll never forget, and then break it to her that it's April Fools!"

Richard's eyes grew big. He couldn't do that. It was mean and cruel. She would never like him after that. Maybe he could us the excuse that it's April Fools to ask her out and end up not following through with the prank. No, that was even worse.

"No," he said.

"Aw c'mon man," James said disappointment in his voice. But he knew Richard would say something like that.

"Man he's just too chicken," Tyler said. He lifted up his arms amd walked around like a chicken. "Hey everyone I'm Richard, BUCAAACK!!!"

People started laughing and Richard, letting his pride get the better of him, agreed.

"My man," James said as he clapped him on the back. "Let's go over the dets, my house tonight."

They left leaving Richard to ponder his decision. He did feel awful, but no way was he a chicken. Richard Carlisle was no chicken.
