Clark's body tensed as he heard the name. I could almost see a trace of fear linger in his eyes."The Joker?" He asked, looking to Batman.
"Yes. I have reason to believe that he is working with a scientific genius from Metropolis. This man isn't a criminal, just a mastermind."
"Do you know his name?" I asked, hoping it wasn't the man I could think of.
"I'm not sure, but he's said to be a middle aged, somewhat self-absorbed and very smart billionaire." I sighed, and look towards Clark.
"Lex." He whispered, before turning around and storming off towards the car.
"Is he alright?" Batman said, looking to me for help.
"Lex Luthor is one of his greatest enemies." I answered. Hoping to not give away too much.
"Lex Luthor. That name sounds so familiar.." He said, his voice trailing off as he thought.
"Never mind that. We need to figure out why he needed to go to Metropolis."
"Gotham recently has had the same kind of criminals, and the same crime rate. I don't usually see Joker unless something big happens, or if he's-" His sentence was cut off by a loud crashing sound.
Both of us ran outside to see a large cloud of smoke coming from a few buildings over. Clark's car was still parked outside, but I could see that something was different. His tie and glasses were sitting on the passenger seat.
"Where is Clark?" Batman asked, looking around.
"He probably went to get some fresh air." I said, walking towards the car.
Just then, I saw a flash of red shoot up into the sky, flying towards the cloud of smoke over the city.
"Is that Superman?" He said, cursing silently to himself. "I hate that guy."
"Why?" I asked, still curious to figure out the backstory to their conflict.
"He's all good looks and works based on his emotions. He should be working based on what the world needs. Not what he thinks or feels is best." He grumbled.
He rubbed his head along the latex mask on his neck, thinking about something. His emotion changed suddenly, and I knew he had come to a realization.
"Lex Luthor. as in LexCorp, Superman's greatest enemy." He growled. I could tell he wasn't happy about this. "That damn kryptonian has to go and ruin everything."
"Calm down, Batman. Right now, we have bigger things to worry about." I said, motioning towards the now-burning city.
He looked towards me, as if to ask if he could leave me here while he saved his dearest city.
"Go," I said quickly. He jumped into the bat mobile and sped off.
I sighed, got into Clark's car, and drove it to the edge of the disaster.
From what I could see, it was the same as what happened in Metropolis. Some kind of gas leak or something. Instead of getting out of the car, I remained a safe distance away. Because I didn't have anything better to do, I pulled out my pen and notebook, and began jotting down notes.
• gas leak in Gotham
• Superman teams up with Batman
• Less than 10 casualties
• Will this teaming up resolve their ongoing conflict?I watched as the two Heros pulled people out of buildings and put out fires. Eventually, I heard a loud bang come from behind my car. It was Superman. I got out and walked towards him.
"Hey stranger," I said, smiling but keeping a distance.
He smiled. "Go back to Wayne Manor. I'll meet you there." I nodded, and got back into the car. Before driving away, I handed him the glasses and tie from the passenger seat.
When I got there, the familiar black Impala was parked out front. Bruce was back. I walked up the steps and into the house. He stood in the middle of the floor, almost waiting for me to get there. His face was dark, his expression tense. I saw a small bit of blood fall from his right sleeve. Instinctively, I walked towards him. He glared at me as I took his arm and rolled up the sleeve.
I froze, realizing who he was.
Batman.
"What are you doing?" He asked harshly, pulling his arm away.
"I have to clean you up before Clark gets back. He'll know immediately." I said, ripping a piece of cloth from the back of his undershirt. I knew wrapping it wouldn't hide it from Clark's vision, but it would at least make it look less 'fresh.'
So, I wrapped the cut and covered it with the sleeve. Once I finished. I backed a safe distance away.
"Thank you," he responded, his emotion relaxing a little.
"Tell me more about your family." I said quickly, changing the subject so that Clark wouldn't suspect anything.
"Well, I - " he was cut off by Clark, who had just walked in.
"Lois, Bruce," he greeted, making his way over to us.
"Did Batman give you all the information you needed?" He asked, propping his elbow up along the mantel.
"Yes, we have enough. And I think I have a plan to get into Lex's house. " I answered, quickly coming up with a few ideas before they asked.
"How?" Clark said, surprised.
"I'll tell him I have more information on Superman. He will absolutely fall for it, and invite me for a meeting so that I can give him the information. Obviously I won't give him real information, but he will believe me. I am the only person who knows Superman's true identity after all, so why wouldn't he trust my information?" I smiled to the both of them, proud of my plan.
Clark looked unsure, but he finally agreed to go with the plan.
I would be going to Lex Luthor's house. Alone. Tomorrow.
So, I pulled out my phone and made a phone call.
"Ah dear Miss Lane, what can I do for you darling?" An overconfident voice answered on the other line.
"I have more information about Superman."
"Meet me here tomorrow, 8 am sharp." He said before hanging up.
The plan was officially under way.
