Holly's pov:
I sighed as I walked down the hall to class with Chanel.
Jess, the most annoying popular girl of school was flirting with Reuben...Again!
She knows I like him, and often threatens me to stay away from him.
But I don't care, I ignore her.
It's kinda hard to ignore her in some situations like now.
"Ugh Chanel look," I whisper.
Chanel turns and once she sees Jess her face scrunched up in disgust,
"Ick Jess!"
I see Reuben look our way and smile brightly at him, hoping he doesn't notice my cheeks glow red.

Reuben's pov:

I stand by my locker and start pulling my books out as I chat with Jess.
Jess is pretty nice. She's a good friend, and I think I kinda like her...
I spot Holly and her friend coming down the hall.
Holly's friend looks grossed out by something, while holly just smiles at me once she sees me look over.
Holly is nice too, I can tell she likes me but... She's just a really good friend in my opinion.

Holly's pov:

Once we got out of Jess and Reuben's earshot I grumbled, "ugh! I hate her so muuuuch!"
Chanel nodded, "she's so rude and annoying!"
I sigh as I spot the upcoming school dance poster on the wall, "do you think Rueben will ask me to the dance?"
Chanel smiled and elbowed me playfully, "heck yeah! He'd be an idiot not to!"
I smiled, "maybe..."

I sit on a bench in the park with Chanel as we enjoy the nice weather.
"Ooh look it's Rueben!" Chanel gasps and points to a boy nearby.
I look over and when I spot him I blush.
"Go talk to him!"
I shook my head, "no I-"
I then realize I'm alone and Chanel ran off.
I look up a Rueben, should I go talk to him? He keeps looking around like he's waiting for someone...
"Who are you looking at, freak!"
I sigh as I recognize Jess's annoying voice.
"Why do you care?"

Reuben's pov:

Where is Jess? She's usually here by now...
I look around and see Jess talking to Holly.
They are probably best friends, Jess is so sweet I don't see how anyone could hate her. That's why I like her because she's so polite. I need to ask her to the dance so I can tell her...
I start to walk over to them,
"Hey je-"
Before I could finish I hear them arguing,
"Stay away from my Rueben you freak!" Jess shouts before punching Holly in the face.
