Breathing hard I crouched down in the elevator, normally I didn’t run, but this was not a normal thing so I sprinted to the elevator door. The only thing that had kept me going was Marcus’s hand pulling me faster.
I had thought cheerleading had been keeping me in shape but apparently I had been very wrong. I was gasping for air, barely able to breathe and Marcus was standing there punching something into his phone as if his best friend wasn’t about to have a heart attack.
It made me so mad that he was standing there breathing completely normal and looking like a Greek god while I was barely breathing and looked like hell ran over me. It was completely unfair. He looked down at me and smirked.
“Having fun there Kallie?” He snorted.
“Go,” Gasp of air. “To hell!” My breathing was slowly receding back to normal.
“I’ve got the seat beside yours!”
“You can’t! I’m driving the bus! But feel free to stand in front of it.” All of a sudden my vision went kind of blurry and I fell on my butt. Nice way to win an argument there Kallie!
“Whoa there Kallie! Stop taking short breaths. You need to take deep calm ones. They’ll slow your heart rate down for you.” He crouched down gently beside me. “Damn Hon, you really were out of shape!”
“Gee thanks for pointing out the obvious for Mr. Genius!” I snorted.
The elevator doors opened and he scooped me up into his arms. He did it like I weighed nothing at all, and I knew for a fact I weighed quite a lot.
He started running again, not as fast this time seeing as he was carrying a full grown hippo, but it was still pretty damn fast!
There was already a cab outside waiting with the door open. I really hoped that there wasn’t some person about to get in because we were already in and shutting the door.
“21st and Johnson.” He simply stated and the cab driver gunned it.
The buildings and restaurants blurred by as we headed out of town.
We went on and on for a while until all the city sounds faded away along with the city itself. We turned off onto a lonely dirt road.
There were no houses on the dirt road but fastly there were more and more trees seemingly appearing around us. It’s soon looked like we were driving through a forest.
Then suddenly there were no more trees, and there was a house.
The house was absolutely huge, and gorgeous. It was a creamy white color that had no blemishes. The shutters were a deep rich green color that almost looked sparkly. There was a wrap-around porch that was the same green color. It had rocking chairs, tables, and little pots of flowers.
The front yard had a swing-set. It was one of those old timey houses that you see in movies. Strangely it felt as if I had come home after a long trip. This was also funny because I could’ve sworn I’d seen this house before. I just couldn’t place it because I knew I hadn’t.
The cab kept driving forward. Marcus looked over at me wide eyed, open mouthed face and burst out laughing. I’m pretty sure I was almost drooling.
“Where are we?” Even I could hear the sound of awe in my voice. He laughed again and this time I joined him.
“Everything is going to be explained. I’m sure your dying to know everything that’s going on.” He sounded kind of sad.
“What’s wrong?” I asked obviously surprising him.
“Huh?” Genius Marcus!
“You sounded upset and just a tad sad.” I was usually blunt but he looked like he was surprised.
“Nothings wrong short stuff. Why would it?” There he was being all sarcastic again.
“Never mind Marcus.”
The cab stopped and I literally jumped out of the car as soon as it stopped, leaving Marcus to pay for the cab.
What I failed to realize was that I had no idea what we were doing here. I turned around and walked back to where he stood watching the cab drive away.
“What are we waiting for?” I asked.
“Nothing. Let’s go.” He turned around and briskly walked to the front door. I followed behind him closely.
He pulled open the screen door, and yes I do mean screen door, and we both walked in.
The inside was just as pretty as the outside, if not prettier. Everything was in green and cream undertones. Instead of looking disgusting like you would have thought it made the house look homey.
It seemed like a house you could really relax and fit into.
We kept walking until we got to a kitchen. It was huge and was fully equipped with everything you could possibly need.
There was someone standing in the corner of the kitchen fixing what looked to be a smoothie. From what I could see she had waist length long white-blonde hair and a petite figure.
Marcus held a hand out, cautioning me and a finger to his mouth telling me to be quiet.
He silently crept up behind the poor unsuspecting girl. His feet made no sound at all. It was kind of really creepy. The girl just continued to make her smoothie, suspecting nothing at all.
He was right behind her by now. He reached around and pinched her waist. It surprises me every time he does that to me because that is a really tender and ticklish part of the body. She jumped pretty freaking high in the air.
“Shit! Marcus! Every single time you prance over here to visit you always have to fucking bother me! If this is always about that time we dumped you in the pong in February? Because you really need to forgive me for tha-“She cut off immediately when she finally looked at me.
“Is she?”
“Yeah, but she doesn’t know yet.” The girl had started to run at me a look of joy on her face, but when she heard him she stopped, her face now worried.
“When are you going to tell her?” Tell me what?
“As soon as I get everyone together. Cold you help me with that?”
“Yeah totally!” She then sprinted up the stairs.
“Who was that? I asked really confused now.
“Clairbear.”
“You mean Claire?”
“No I call her Clairbear but her Claira. She hates being called Claire so don’t ever call her that. Says it makes her sound stuffy.” He spoke of her fondly as if she was his little sister.
“What exactly are you doing? Gathering who?” I was getting more and more confused.
Aiden kidnaps me, Marcus shows up and they seem to be friends but then they get in a fight and it’s clear that they’re not. Aiden kisses me and it’s like magic, then he kisses me and it’ sucked. Now I’m here not knowing what the hell was going on. Anyone else get it?
Because I sure as hell don’t.
