Chapter twenty-five.
With a clear mind, I opened my eyes and saw a resting Pia still on my lap. I noticed rays of sunlight shining over her, which urged me to look up to the open ceiling. She didn't close it. It was too early for light that bright.
I didn't want to move. I was scared that if I even breathed too hard it would disturb her peaceful sleep. I studied her flawless, slightly-tanned skin. It was glowing. Delicately, I placed my hand on her cheek - softly and slowly rubbing small circles onto her cheekbone.
Her soft breaths made me feel some kind of way - an indescribable sensation burned inside of me. It felt intimate to an extent too.
Just sitting there, admiring her and sharing the same air, occupying the same space felt more intimate than third base or sex.
I wanted to plant a polite kiss on her forehead, so I leant in. But before I could, my phone started ringing. Why isn't it on vibrate? Fuck.
I quickly declined the call and watched whether Pia woke up because of me.
She let out a cute, ladylike grunt before turning her head. I started smiling to myself, but before I could even grin, she rolled herself off my lap. Her head bumped the floor we were on and she groaned.
"Shit. Are you okay?" I raised my eyebrow in concern as I helped her get up.
"Fucking hell." She held the spot of her head that got hurt.
"At least it wasn't from a bed, right?" I laughed, making her laugh. We smiled at each other for a while.
"I'd kiss you right now, but we both have morning breath."
"What's wrong with morning breath?" I started closing the gap between us, closing my eyes as well. I felt her palm push my forehead back.
"Um, everything." Her laughter tickled my eardrums before she stood up and made her way to the bathroom.
"Hey," I called out, getting up to walk after her.
"What's up?" She asked, entering the bathroom. God, she walks fast.
"I," she sat down on the toilet. I was deciding whether this was gross or relieving, since she felt comfortable enough with me. "Well, I just, um, you know?" I leant sideways, against the doorway.
She laughed, watching me. "I actually don't know," she smiled at me, "I just really needed to pee. You don't have to watch me, Aftonio,"
"Right, it's just-" my phone rang again. Thank God for distractions. "I think I need to take this," I excused myself and answered my phone without checking the caller ID.
"Aftonio!"
"Yes?" I replied to my uncle.
"About the funeral," he started. He informed me about the plans and what he needed from me for the service. I agreed and sent him an EFT via my phone.
I tossed my phone on the white sofa and made my way to the bathroom, looking for Pia. The shower was on.
I watched her silhouette for a few seconds before deciding to grab two toothbrushes and get into the shower with her. I stripped down.
After putting toothpaste onto the toothbrushes, I pulled back the curtain and eyed a very naked Pia. Fuck, she's beautiful.
