When I look in the mirror
I see me.
I've always wondered
What do you see?
Do you see someone unrecognizable?
Someone unidentifiable?
Some you hate, or someone you love?
Do you cringe?
Do you see the scars no one else can see?
Do you see someone who'll never be free?
Do you see someone other than you,
A person you never wanted to be?
Do you frown upon seeing your face,
Or maybe your body shape?
Maybe we should stop avoiding mirrors,
And stop pretending to be okay.
Because it will only tear you apart
Piece by piece
Day by day
Maybe we should smile
Work to change to be the person
That you've always wanted to be
That you've always wanted to see
I just hope when you look in the mirror
The view
Is
Of
You.
