Hey fellow demigods! This is Chapter 2!

Maya's POV

I grabbed my penny board from my front lawn, took a bite from my muffin, and started heading down the road to school.

It was a usual Monday so the streets were really busy. I rode past the stores and people almost bumping into them as I rode by. It took me a while to get there since I live about ten minutes away from the school. As I was nearing Abigail Adams Highschool, I jumped off my board and decided to walk. I entered the school and made my way to my locker.

"Oh hey guys look it's Maya the loser," my old best friend Riley Matthews said smirking at me.

I ignored them not wanting to deal with this right now.

"It looks like someone can't talk," Missy, Riley's best friend said. "Maybe that's why your mom is never here. She already knows your a freak. It's probably why your dad left you also."

I slammed my locker shut and walked to class.
Missy and Riley high five triumphantly knowing they won the battle.

"Run away Maya like you do with all of your problems," I heard Riley call out.

"This is why you have no friends. No one wants to be friends with a loser like you," Missy also called out. By now the whole hallway was laughing.

I walked past my class not caring if I'm skipping. It's not like I actually show up to class anyway.

I walked straight to the janitor's closed and slammed the door behind me. I did something I do every time I come in here. I cried. I cried about my mother not caring. I cried about my father leaving me. I cried about not having a place where I belonged. I cried about just not being good enough.

I pulled out my headphones from my backpack. Tears still streaming down my face I put them in my ears and turned on a band that actually understands me. I put on Broken Home by 5 Seconds of Summer. I could relate to this song so much.

"Hey mom, Hey dad, when did this end?
When did you lose your happiness?
I'm here alone inside of this broken home.
Who's right? Who's wrong? Who really cares? The fault, the blame, the pain's still there.
I'm here alone in side of this broken home.
This broken home." I sang softly.

I put on one more song called Bleeding Out by Imagine Dragons, then gathered my things and walked to the library.

My music was blasting in my ears as I walked down the hallway, but I didn't care. I didn't care about anything anymore. I sat on the floor in the back of the library and hugged my knees. I let my hair cover my face and stayed like that for a while. Soon I fell asleep.

Lucas's POV

"Hurry up Lucas your going to be late!" My mom yelled from downstairs.

"I'm coming," I yelled back.

Today was my first day at a new school since I pretty much got kicked out of my old one back in Texas. I got attacked by an empousa, but to everyone else it looked like a normal boy. When I killed the empousa, it looked liked I beat him up pretty badly to everyone else.

So my mom decided to bring me and my step dad to New York hoping there would be less monsters. My step dad and my mom both know about me being a demi-god because they are clear sighted mortals.

I ran down the stairs, grabbed my back and kissed my mom on the cheek goodbye.

I rode my bike to school, since I was only 15 and couldn't drive a car yet.

I made my way to John Quincy Adams Middle School and ran to the doors hoping I wasn't late. When I walked in I saw a girl running down the hallway and everyone is the hallway was laughing.

'What did I miss?' I thought. I shrugged and walked to class.

I stood by the door, while everyone filed in, to talk to the teacher.

"You must be Lucas Friar. I'm Mr. Matthews," the teacher said holding his hand out. I shook it.

"Class we have a new student. This is Lucas Friar," Mr. Matthews said to the class. "Where are you from Lucas?"

"I'm from Texas sir," I answered. He nodded.

"You can sit behind Maya."
"Where's Maya?" Mr. Matthews asked a brunette girl who sat in the front.

"I don't know," She answered. "I was just trying to be nice to her, then she insulted me and ran away." The brunette said.

'So her name is Maya," I thought.

I sat down behind the empty seat and Mr. Matthews started class.
