When Jason woke up the next morning, he first wandered over to Emma's room and peered through the small crack in her door; she was still sound asleep. After they got back from Brad's yesterday, she had gone straight to bed without another word, but Jason didn't blame her as he probably would've done the same thing. Since she was still asleep, he headed downstairs to find his mom sat at the dining table eating some toast as she read the morning paper.
"Morning Mom," Jason smiled sleepily at her as he took the seat opposite her, he grabbed a slice of toast from the rack on table and poured himself some orange juice. "So, Emma told me and the others why she moved to Malibu yesterday,"
"I was wondering when she would," His mom sighed with a sad smile on her face. "It's absolutely dreadful, when your uncle rang me I couldn't say no to her. Not after what you went through with the crossbow bolt."
"I'm glad you said yes though," Jason reached across the table and lightly squeezed her hand, almost to thank her. "Everyone's welcomed her with open arms and despite yesterday, she definitely seems a lot happier here in Malibu, she's settled in really quickly. It's good that we can be here for and in all fairness, what she went through was a lot worse than what I did; she's got a lot of bravery."
"She gets that from you Jase," His mum smiled at him, "When you two were younger and had first started skateboarding, whenever one of you fell over, you'd always encourage her to get back up and you would never show her if you were in pain. You probably don't think it, but she got her bravery from you as well her modesty. It's not surprising considering how much you two used to hang out in Michigan."
"And now we live together like siblings," Jason grinned as he finished off his toast and took a gulp of his juice. "Even Emma said that she hung out with me more than she did her friends,"
"Well you two literally grew up together, so you're probably one of her best friends Jason," His mother reasoned as she sipped her coffee. "Which is nice as well, you two have always go on like a house on fire,"
Jason smiled with his mom as he refilled his glass, Emma and him had always done everything together since they were little, they learnt to talk together, to walk, how to ride a bike, how to skate, how to snowboard, how to swim; especially how to swim. Jason easily classed Emma as one of his best friends, without a doubt and in all honesty they probably did spend more time together than they did with their friends; but Jason wouldn't change that at all.
Waking up, Emma felt disgustingly groggy, so much so that she immediately dragged herself to the bathroom and into the shower; people are right when they say showers wake them up. Once she had washed away the grogginess, Emma towelled dried her blonde hair which had seemingly gotten longer and got dressed in a pair of denim cutoff shorts along with a Twenty One Pilots tank top. Making her way downstairs, she nearly crashed into Jason as he passed her on the stairs,
"Oh, morning Jase!" She shot him a small smile, folding the towel in her hands up properly. Without saying anything, Jason simply wrapped his arms around her and pulled her into a tight hug; she kind of appreciated this. Wrapping her arms around his waist briefly, she sighed and then pulled out of the hug, "Thank you,"
"You're welcome," Jason smiled at her. Silently agreeing that Emma would be okay, Jason continued upstairs as she continued downwards to put the towel in the washer and to grab some breakfast.

Once they had arrived at school, Jason, Emma and Dani split off to go to their first classes of the day. For Emma that was French. Running to her locker to get her textbooks, she saw Paisley walking towards her from around the corner,
"Hey Pais," Emma smiled at the bubbly, blue haired girl who was walking around with her usual glowing smile and radiant personality. "How have you been?"
