The War We Lost

chapter 3-where is the base?

It was insane. People were running around and fighting. Tony and kevin climbed into a jeep with the commander and started driveing through the base. "Ok boys grab a rifle and if you see a german....blow his head off" the commander says. Kevin grabs a rifle and aims it at a group of germans shooting them in the chest. "Sir can i just use the magnum" tony asks. "Sure just kill the enemy's" the commander replies. Tony aims at a enemy attacking the man from the boat. The man falls and tony closes his eyes. He blacks out. When he wakes up him and kevin are in the middle of the woods. Kevin was dumping wood on the fire. "Oh your awake.....here" kevin hands him some water. "What happened" tony asks sipping the water. Apparently tony had passed out and the commander was shot. The germans were all dead and the commander thought tony was too and left him for dead. Kevin had stolen some supplies and dragged tony away. "So where are we now" tony says. "I don't know....im scared to leave the trees" kevin replies. Tony noticed that kevin didin't have his rifle. He looks in his pocket and finds his magnum. Kevin smiles and picks up a peice of steak. "So we leave in the morning" tony says. Kevin nods. The next few hours they swapped keeping watch. When it was tonys turn to sleep he dreamed he was standing on a island alone. "Gah" he says bolting up. "What is it" kevin asks. "Um...nothing" tony replies. The last thing he needed was to look like a coward. Kevin nods and looks at the rising sun. "So is the base close" tony asks. Kevin shruggs and stands up. He pulls the magnum out of his pocket. "We need to head West because thats where we came from....just look for the ocean" kevin says helping tony up and putting out the fire. He turned around and headed West.
