“Jack, why do you seem so sad all the time?” Your younger self asked as a strong wind blew past you. Jack hesitated for a moment, before speaking up.
“I couldn’t say (f/n)” Jack laughed slightly. You smiled up at him and shifted yourself closer to him, wrapping your tiny arms around his cold waist.
“I don’t want you to be sad Jack. You are all I have. Daddy left, mommy is always at work and my brothers and sister are mean to me. So don’t be sad, I want you to be happy.” You smiled despite the small tears forming at the edges of your eyes. Jack sort of shocked, wrapped his arms around you also, letting his staff fall in the snow next to him.
“I could never be sad when I’m with you.” Jack smiled, twirling some of your (h/c) locks in his fingers, “You are very special to me. I will never leave you if I don’t have to. I will always be there to protect you. You are mine.” He gently kissed the top of your head as you held his waist tighter.
“Please don’t leave.” You whispered into his stomach, clutching his pullover. After a short while you slowly drifted off to sleep. Looking off into the dark night sky, Jack noticed the headlights of your mother’s car pull into the poorly shoveled driveway.
He stepped inside your window and into your room. Jack set you down on your bed and pulled several blankets over you to ensure your warmth.
“Please don’t leave.” You whispered again, your eyes fluttering open a bit.
“Shh... I won’t. I will always be here for you.” Jack whispered back, gripping your hand tight. You let yourself fall asleep.
A few minutes later your mother opened your room door to check on you. She scanned the room and walked over to the window closing it and walked back out of the room. She didn’t notice anyone in the room with you, comforting you, since Jack was invisible to her. The half dried tears that stained your cheeks were also invisible to her.
