Lily's P.O.V

It was weeks later that Seth returned to school. He hadn't contacted Jake or I during those weeks. I tried to ring him but he never answered and never called back. I even tried to call his home but his mum just said that Seth wasn't able to speak every time I rang. Seth was never the same when he came back. He ditched Jake and I for the cult. Sam Uley's cult with Paul. He looks so buff like the others. I feel like slowly I am losing my friends slowly one by one. Things at home at the moment are getting worse. I am finding it harder and harder to cover up the scars and bruises from Jake. He knows nothing thankfully. I am so worried that I will lose Jake next.

I get up on Thursday morning and get ready for school. It's halfway through winter and it's so cold outside. I hate winter a lot. It's just so gloomy just like my emotions right now. I do my usual routine for the morning and try and go downstairs as quickly as possible. Let's just say my mum is going to have a massive hangover today and it would be best to avoid her at all costs. I quickly have breakfast and make my lunch. I quickly scam out of the house grabbing my skateboard from the garage and riding to school.

Jake is waiting by my locker when I get to school. 'Hey Jake.' I say as I open my locker. 'How's my Lily bear?' He laughs as I get my books for the first two classes. 'As good as I ever will be.' I laugh and poke him back. He goes quiet for a minute and then grabs my wrist. 'What is this?' he asks confused. He holds my wrist. My bruised wrist. Damn I must have forgotten to cover it up this morning. My heart and mind was racing, he can't know what really happened. 'Well let's just say every now and then I fall off my skateboard.' I say laughing at him. I look at him seriously. 'I told you that you should ride a bike not a skateboard.' He says. 'Well I like skating better than riding and it's staying that way.' I say shutting my locker. 'Promise me to be more carefully.' He says in defeat. 'I promise I will Jake.' I say as we start walking to homeroom. I turn around and see Paul watching me very carefully. I turn straight around and think of it no more.

The day surprisingly went quiet fast. Jake and I hung out after school doing crazy stuff down by the beach. I love the thrill of cliff diving. Jake is the opposite, he hates it so much. I ended up staying at his house for dinner. 'Yum!' I laugh as I finish my food. Jake just ate three times as much as me. It's so gross. 'Jake how are you not fat!' I exclaim after dinner. 'I work out!' he jokes. I laugh, 'Yeah right Jake.' 'I better get going home.' I sigh not wanting to go but my mum will go off if I am out too late. 'I know but I don't want you to leave.' He whines. 'Oh you are such a baby.' I push him. 'I will see you tomorrow Jake it's not that far away.' I get up and start gathering my stuff. 'I know. Night Lily Bear.' He gives me a big hug. 'Night Jake.' I smile. He sees me out and I get on my skateboard and start skating home before Jake can ask to give me a lift.

I get home later than I expected. If my mum is up this could be interesting. I quietly put my skateboard away and slip into the house. I quietly walk up the stairs and past my mum's room. I can hear all kinds of noises from there and I want to get into my room as fast as possible. I get into my room and close the door and turn on my light. I dump my school stuff on my bed and collapse onto my window seal. The moon is nowhere to be seen tonight and the yard and the woods are dark and hard to see. Today was not a bad day. I managed to stay out of my mothers and the popular groups' way and Jake and I had a great time at the beach. I wish everyday would be like this.

Something caught my eye in the forest. In the midst of the darkness were two glowing eyes. This made me sit up. It was a wolf from what I could work out. It had the same colour eyes as the wolf that visited weeks ago. I hadn't seen it since until now. It was weird it shouldn't come here. There is a big woods for it to be out in. It just stood there. As still as the night itself. Suddenly it disappeared out of sight. That made me straighten up and look for it but it was nowhere in sight. It was gone. Just gone like that. It was like it was checking up on me. Wolves don't do that though. They are reckless and are savage animals of the wild. I turned my attention back into my room. The house was dark except the light coming from my mum's room. My eyes were getting heavy and I didn't even realise that I was tired. Soon sleep consumed me and all I could think about it that wolf.

I woke up to yelling. I couldn't tell who it was. I heard a door slam and I heard mine swing open. Shit! I open my eyes just to see my step dad walk in and up to me and throw me from the window seal to the ground. I landed with a grunt. 'YOU WORTHLESS LITTLE BRAT!' He yelled at me as he came closer. I whimpered at his voice level. He came up to me and kicked me hard in the ribs. Ge that's going to leave a big bruise. 'WHY CAN'T YOU DO A SINGLE THING WE SAY.' He yells again. He grabs me by the shirt. 'I don't understand what did I do?' I whisper. He doesn't answer me but he drops me to the ground and gives another kick to my stomach. 'WHY WERE YOU EVEN BORN!!' He yells. I try to get up but he just punches me down again. I whimper, my fragile body can't take much more of this. 'YOU WILL COME STRAIGHT HOME TODAY FOR THE REST OF YOUR PUNISHMENT.' He yells again and kicks me again and then leaves me on the floor of my room. I whimper in pain as I try and get myself to the bathroom. I knew I had this coming and now I have to go to school. I look at myself in the mirror. I am so pale. I am fat and I am ugly. I hate myself and Jake my best friend is the only one holding me to this life.
