Lily’s P.O.V

We saw Sam and his gang cliff dive off the cliffs above us. I heard Jake and Seth growl at them. ‘They aren’t doing anything wrong.’ I complain. They both sighed and left it. I dunked Jake under water. ‘Payback!’ I yell at him. ‘Oh no you didn’t.’ he yelled and started to chase after me. I hide behind Seth. ‘Oh no.’ he said grabbing me and handing me to Jake. ‘Seth you traitor.’ I yell but he just laughs at me. Jake dunks me under water. I come up spitting and splattering. ‘Really?’ I ask. They just roll around laughing at me. I shove sand into their faces annoyed. ‘Oh you should not have done that.’ They both growl. I was in for it this time. I sprint as fast as I can across the beach. The thing is that I’m not the fastest runner they are and within metres they slam me into the sand. ‘Got you.’ He whispers. I laugh and push him off me and start running again but I know that he will catch me again and I’m right but this time Seth also joins in. ‘Not fair guys.’ I laugh. ‘Yes it is.’ They snigger. We muck around at the beach for ages until the sun is going down and we sit and watch the wonderful sun set we get in La Push. It started to get dark and cold and I know that my mum isn’t going to be happy about me being out late and not coming home straight from school but I don’t care. ‘Well guys I think I should head home since it’s getting dark and my mum will start to worry.’ I say getting up       knowing that my mum would never be worried about me. ‘Ohhh.’ They complained. ‘I know, I know but still.’ I say picking up my bag. ‘Ok then you want us to walk you there?’ Jake asks. ‘No I will be fine.’ I say quickly since no one is going to see my mum.  ‘Are you sure?’ Seth says. Yes very.’ I reply. ‘Ok then bye Lils.’ Jake and Seth hug me tight as I walked off towards home.

I arrive home half an hour later and it’s really late and I’m just hoping that my mum and my step dad are not home and are at a night club or something. I quietly open the door and sneak inside. The house is silent for once and I can’t decide if it’s a good thing or a bad thing. I sneak into the living room and no one is there. I sigh in relief that they aren’t home for now but they must know that I didn’t come straight home because there is a note on the bench. I pick it up and read it.

Dear Lily,

I know you didn’t come home straight after school like you are a post too and there is going to be punishment. Your Step father and I are out and won’t be back until tomorrow. You will clean the house and make tea for us tomorrow. If this is not done the punishment will be more harsh than it already is.

Mum

I slam down the note and groaned. I sat down at the bench and made myself a hot chocolate. I looked around the house and find it a mess great. I decide to do it in the morning since it’s already 10pm at night. I trudge upstairs and into my bedroom which is like the only clean place in the house. I slip on my Pj’s and get into bed and fall into a dreamless sleep.

I wake up to the birds chirping and singing outside my window. I look at my alarm clock and it reads 10:31am. I franticly got out of bed and rushed around getting ready and started to clean the house. I don’t know when they are getting home and I don’t want them ever to come home. Suddenly my phone rings while I’m cleaning the lounge room up. I rush upstairs and answer it. ‘Hello.’ I answer while walking back into the living room. ‘Hey Lily Bear.’ Jake laughed. ‘What is so funny?’ I ask while returning to work in the lounge room. ‘What’s up?’ he asked. ‘Hmmm nothing but cleaning.’ I mutter. He laughs at me. ‘Ha ha ha sucked in.’ he says. ‘Not funny.’ I mumble. ‘How much cleaning?’ he asks. ‘The whole house.’ I explain. ‘Really? Sucked in.’ he laughs even harder. ‘Where’s your mum?’ he asks. ‘She’s out with a man who she is getting married to doing something.’ I explain which isn’t telling the complete truth but its close. ‘Oh ok.’ He says. I talk to Jake while I clean the lounge and finish the kitchen and then I start with their bedroom. Jake had to go so I was all alone cleaning up the house. I finally finished cleaning the whole house late afternoon but I couldn’t stop because I still had to cook tea which is a pain since they are really picky eaters and I have to cook everything in the deep fryer for them. I put on some music and played it to keep me moving. I finally finished cooking and left it in the pan to keep it hot while I went upstairs to do my own things. I got out my guitar and started to play my favourite song. I don’t think I’m a good singer but Jake and Seth do. I sing my own little song.

The snow glows white on the mountain tonight
Not a footprint to be seen
A kingdom of isolation,
And it looks like I’m the queen.

The wind is howling like this swirling storm inside
Couldn’t keep it in, heaven knows I tried

Don’t let them in, don’t let them see
Be the good girl you always have to be
Conceal, don’t feel, don’t let them know
Well, now they know

Let it go, let it go
Can’t hold it back anymore
Let it go, let it go
Turn away and slam the door

I don’t care
What they’re going to say
Let the storm rage on,
The cold never bothered me anyway

It’s funny how some distance
Makes everything seem small
And the fears that once controlled me
Can’t get to me at all

It’s time to see what I can do
To test the limits and break through
No right, no wrong, no rules for me
I’m free

Let it go, let it go
I am one with the wind and sky
Let it go, let it go
You’ll never see me cry

Here I stand
And here I'll stay
Let the storm rage on

My power flurries through the air into the ground
My soul is spiraling in frozen fractals all around
And one thought crystallizes like an icy blast
I’m never going back,
The past is in the past

Let it go, let it go
And I'll rise like the break of dawn
Let it go, let it go
That perfect girl is gone

Here I stand
In the light of day
Let the storm rage on,
The cold never bothered me anyway

I finish my song and I fell a lot better in myself. That’s until the door slammed open and shut. I quickly put my guitar away and run downstairs to see them back. ‘Oh you are in so much trouble.’ My mother yelled.
