The Clockwork Children who worked in the New York area all needed to live in a old manor. It was made of weathered brick. All sides of the manor had vines and moss growing on them. Ivy and Jack entered the manor that everyone in New York thought was abandoned. The door creaked as they opened the door. They were greeted with the pleasant warmth of the fireplace. Ivy took off her long cloak and hung it on the hook beside the door. Jack unzipped his coat and dropped it on the floor. He then continued to fall onto the puffy sofa. Ivy sighed and picked up his coat. "You're never any help." Jack just snickered and started reading the book that had been on the coffee table. Ivy took a seat on the worn armchair. The parlor was the most comfortable room in the manor. "When are Sebastian and Edgar going to be here?" She asked him. "They just had a job near the cafe on 3rd street. So probably in about-" Edgar and Sebastian burst through the door, chattering amongst themselves. "Now." Jack finished. "Hey!" Edgar greeted the two. Sebastian just jutted out his chin in a somewhat style of greeting. Sebastian was always the opposite of Edgar. Edgar being very light hearted and happy, Sebastian was always closed off when it came to emotions and had a sharp personality. Edgar's bright blue eyes covered in thick lensed glasses, while Sebastian's dark grey eyes surrounded with paper white skin. Edgar sat on the armchair next to Ivy. "How did your job go? Did you get it done?" Sebastian said sternly as he took a seat across from Jack. "We got it done." Jack snapped at him. For some reason Sebastian and Jack had never liked each other. They had always been like this. "What time was Henry supposed to be here? He told us he had another job to do." Ivy said, trying to break the ice. "He said it was important." Edgar seemed threatened by the tension in the room. "So how do you plan to celebrate your 850th birthday, Sebastian?" Edgar seemed desperate to break the tension at this point. "Birthdays are stupid when you're immortal. Just another blank amount of time watching people die. We never age. We never die. What's the point?" Sebastian stared at the flickering fireplace. "Bad day?" Jack asked jokingly. "Shut up" Sebastian snapped. "I-". Just as Jack started to argue, the short Henry barged into the room. "Sorry I'm late." He said. "Your next job involves all of you needing to work together." Ivy glanced at Jack and Sebastian. "You need to make sure a man who will be wearing a red hat get the newspaper from last week." Henry pulled out a rolled up newspaper from his pocket. "He will get the idea from one of the articles. Go at 3:47am tomorrow at that weird palm reading place. Now I need to go give a new job to the Florida unit. Goodbye." And he left just as quickly as he came. "Well. I'm going to go get some coffee. Anyone want some?" Edgar asked. A choir of refusals sang throughout the room. "I'm going to bed." Jack said lazily. "Oh, that whole day of doing nothing must really be tiring." Sebastian said with fake sympathy. "Yeah, it really is." Jack yawned. "Goodnight Ivy." He said and left the room. Ivy and Sebastian sat in the room. "Ugh. What is his problem?" He asked no one in particular. Sebastian brushed his long black hair back from his face. He always had a sort of stern look to his face. He lifted his long legs up and put them on the coffee table. He wore a pair of black jeans and a navy blue sweater. He had always been a sort of big brother figure in her life. She had known him for as long as she could remember. Sebastian stood up. He walked across the room and put his hand on ivy's head. "Goodnight." He said as he left the room. Ivy decided it was time for her to go to bed just as Edgar walked back into the parlor carrying a steaming cup of coffee. "Awe. Everyone's going to bed." He sat on the sofa. "Goodnight Edgar." Ivy said as she made her way to her room.
