“So, tomorrow?” I questioned to the boy on the phone.
“Yup, it’s a date!” with that he hung up, and I stepped out of my car. The joy from that phone call had me skipping up the steps to Adam’s house. This was pretty big for me.
“Hey,” Adam greeted opening the door for me. I stepped in and saw his parents on the couch.
“Tasnim!” his dad called out to me. Gosh, I loved that crazy man.
“Yes, pops number two?” I said skipping to the couch. See, I was really close to Adam’s parents. They always wanted me to call them mom and dad, but that felt to weird to me. So for me, they were pops and mum.
“I haven’t seen you around much,” he said as I sat next to him on the couch. Adam smiled and walked over to sit next to me.
“Sorry, pops. Adam over here never invites me over anymore!” I exclaimed laughing at Adam’s fake shocked expression.
“Aw. You don’t need an invite. You come whenever you want!” Adam’s mother walked out of the kitchen. She was wiping her hands on her apron approaching me for a hug.
“Mum, I know that. I’ll come by more often now. Happy guys?” I asked after pulling away from mum’s hug.
“That’s fine. Want to go upstairs now?” Adam asked stepping up from where he was seated.
“Sure,” I waved at mum and pops as I walked toward the stairs.
“My parents love you,” Adam said catching up to me.
“I know. Hey, can I tell you something?” I spoke out nervously.
“Of course. What’s up?” he said smiling.
“Well, when I was in the car. Ryan called, and he kind of asked me out.” I said not quite sure if that came out right. Adam didn’t really liked the idea of guys taking me out on dates. He was pretty protective.
“Really? That’s great,” he said walking into his closet.
“You really think so? Okay,” that was easier then I thought it would be.
“How about a double date? That would be fun.” he asked coming out of the closet with a sweatshirt. Now I get why he thinks this is okay. Whenever Adam has a girlfriend, he doesn’t care much about what I do. He doesn’t care about me much in general.
“That sounds fun. Who’s your fabulous date?” I questioned Adam.
“Kathy. Remember her? The girl from the mall a few days ago. That I went out with last Thursday,” he explained. I nodded my head as an awkward silence started rising into the room.
“Wanna play Black Ops?” I asked in an attempt to break the silence. He nodded and grabbed the controllers. Usually when we play we trash talk each other, but we were mostly silent this time. I think it was just because of this random topic of a double date. This is the first time in a long time both of us are interested in someone at the same time. Usually, Adam likes a girl, sees here once or twice, then its over. For me, I see a guy, like him, but then he’s not usually interested. In my 15 years of life, I only had one real boyfriend. I didn’t want to start dating until I was 14. I met one guy at the time, it lasted 4 months. Adam has had 3 real relationships. One 3 months, the other 4, and his most recent relationship was 5 months long. The girl cheated on him before they could hit 6 months. I think that’s why he’s so protective of me being in relationships. He doesn’t want his best friend getting hurt, but I think I see a future with Ryan. My thoughts were interrupted with the sound of my phone ringing. As I snapped back to reality, Adam snapped up my phone into his hands.
