Audrey🔥: hi, it's Audrey's step mom, this is so difficult to tell you but, Audrey killed herself last night. I can't imagine how terrible this is considering how close you were to her. I'm so sorry.
I couldn't see anything. It was all a blur. As soon as I saw that I couldn't take it. I started running, I didn't know where to, but I ran like hell after I read that message. It was the message that changed my life.
Before I knew where I was, I found myself knocking at the door of a big suburban house. It was Frankie's. Shit, this isn't good. She can't see me like this. I was still crying, gasping for breath from all the running. I can't be here, but as soon as I moved to turn away from the door, it swung open.
"Ruby? Oh my god. What's wrong? Are you okay?" She moved closer as she talked, eventually pulling me into a hug.
"This is all my fault. I did this. She's dead. My best friend is dead. I could've done something. What do I do? I can't just 'get over it.' She's gone. Forever." I said, tripping over myself as I pushed her away.
"Ruby, shh, calm down. What are talking about?"
"Audrey killed herself last night," I was yelling at this point but Frankie just pulled me back into the same hug.
"Let's have a seat." She said as she gestured to the sidewalk in front of us.
"No, I...uh, I need to go home."
"No, god knows what you'd do if I let you go home. Plus, it's too dark. So, what happened?" She started sitting us down on the sidewalk but I kept standing.
"She's dead, that's what happened." The tears were coming quicker than ever and before I knew it, I was running again, but this time there was someone following me.

It didn't take long for Frankie to outrun me considering my current state and the creeping fact that I knew I couldn't keep running from this.
As soon as I stopped, I fell on the asphalt and dropped my head into my hands. "I can't do this," I cried "how am I supposed to live without her?"
After a few minutes without a reply, I laid down and closed my eyes. Now all I had to do was wait for a car.
"What are you running from? Surely you can't keep running forever." I jump and then look over and sure enough, I see Frankie laying next to me.
"Go home, you're gonna get yourself killed."
"Well that was your plan, wasn't it? I'm not going anywhere unless you come with me."
"It was my plan, but if that's the case, I guess we're both dying tonight"
"Then let my cross something off my bucket list real quick." Before I can reply I feel her grab me by the hip and turn me on my side so that we were face to face. She looks into my eyes and then down to my lips and places a kiss on them. It wasn't much, but it sent chills up my spine, it was also enough to convince me that we should get out of the road.
"Let's go, Ruby. My parents won't care if you spend the night"
