I rewrote the end of the chapter bc I hated it and I am a perfectionist so you should probz read where I changed it bc I mean it's just a filler but you should still read it bc it's like 3 a.m. so that'd be coolio

(Third person pov)

Kayce never liked Ruby, even before Frankie was in the picture. She hated her from the second she met her in sixth grade. She never really had a reason. That is, until Frankie came along, they quickly became friends which gave Kayce a justifiable reason to hate Ruby. Ruby liked her best friend therefore she hated her.

And as for Drew, he didn't always hate her, in fact, he used to try and cheat on Audrey with Ruby. But Ruby always turned him down, he's dating her best friend after all. And Ruby tried telling Audrey about it, but Audrey never believed her, she would just say that Ruby didn't know what she was talking about and then ignore her for two days. She always came back though because all they had was each other.

At the moment Kayce is at Drew's house, sitting on his bed still buzzing from the injustice they just served their classmate.

"That was amazing. Why have we never done this before? This should be a weekly thing." Kayce said, knowing Drew would agree with her no questions asked.

"Only reason I didn't do it earlier was because I never had a 'good enough' reason to." Drew explained, but Kayce thought that was stupid. "But this should definitely be weekly."

"What are we gonna do about Frankie though? Ruby probably already tried to tell her what we did. I mean, I know she knows. Look what she texted me..." with that, Kayce showed Drew the texts where Frankie asked if she knew anything about Ruby.

Before Kayce took her phone back, Drew noticed what her drafts said: "It's not my fault you're trying to ask out a fucking cunt"

"Kayce you can't send Frankie that message. She'll figure us out. She can't know about this."

"She probably already knows. Ruby's just a little cry baby. I bet you right now she's trying to make Frankie watch the cameras."

She wasn't entirely wrong.

Frankie didn't reply. She didn't want to believe Ruby. Kayce is her best friend, of course she didn't want to believe Ruby. But she knew she might have to.

It'd been two hours since Ruby and Frankie had arrived at Frankie's house but no words had been exchanged. Frankie washed ruby's clothes for her and let her take a shower and clean up. At this point they were sitting on Frankie's bed watching The X-Files and they were both okay with it.

***AND THIS IS WHERE I CHANGED THE CHAPTER AFTER I ALREADY UPDATED BC IM A SHITHEAD AND HATED HOW I WROTE IT THE FIRST TIME***

But there were so many thoughts flooding Ruby's head and she couldn't take all the wondering anymore. How did Frankie get her in her car? What did Frankie have to tell her? What's going to happen with Kayce? Who was Frankie going to believe? Should she tell an adult?

Ruby couldn't focus. All she could think about was her questions. But she figured the best way to forget is to sleep. So that's what she did.

Frankie didn't really notice at first but as soon as she did, she grabbed a blanket from beside her and laid it across Ruby.

"Sweet dreams, angel" Frankie whispered softly as she kissed Ruby forehead.

•dream dream dream dream dream dream •

It's dark. It's freezing. I'm in the middle of nowhere. You'd think there would be stars because I'm nowhere but the sky is blank. There's no one around and no sign of city life for miles. I'm frantic. Looking around, running, screaming, it wasn't until I was crying that I heard something.

It sounded like laughter but not normal laughter, Disney villain laughter but just slightly more ominous. As the laughing progressed, there was clapping added to it but there was no sort of rhythm to it. The noises got closer but there was nobody in sight.

I want to tell it to stop but all I can manage are screams. By now I'm on the ground, screaming and crying. This is beginning to be too much.

Suddenly it all went silent. Everything stopped. I would be okay with it if I wasn't in the middle of absolutely nowhere.

It spoke.

"I thought I warned you. All those dirty eyes, death stares, sarcastic smiles, kicks to the tummy. Frankie always tells me how smart you are. But that must just be paper smart, if you were really as smart as she makes you out to be, you would've stayed away like I told you to. Maybe if you were really smart, you'd realize that Frankie hangs out with you out of pity. Maybe if you were really smart, you could've saved Audrey. MAYBE IF YOU WERE REALLY SMART YOU'D GO WITH AUDREY."

As the yelling stops, Kayce appears, standing over me. She's wearing clenched fists and a most menacing grin.

Just when I thought our exchange was over, she gets down to my level.

"I said stay away," she whispers harshly, making me cringe, "and don't think I can't make you."

•no more dream dream dream dream dream dream (also this next part goes into Frankie's pov just so y'all slow ones know)•

It's getting late but I don't know if I should wake Ruby up. She looks so peaceful and it's not hard to tell that she hasn't slept this good for a while.

The selfish part of me wants to not do anything and wrap the both of us in a big comforter and leave her to the only peace she's had in forever. But the good part of me wants to wake her up and tell her to go home because I know her parents are gonna kick her ass if she shows up at home tomorrow morning without an explanation. But she needs her rest.
