But I couldn't even begin to imagine what my step mother had done just to spite me for my birthday tonight or how I would fulfill my dream to be free

Scarlets pov-

I felt like a prisoner the maids that I normally didn't let dress me were buzzing around me in excited jitters that to day I would let them dress me for the ball to night even though I kept telling them that I only invited the people of the town to the ball and there was no one that was important coming the only response I got was

"oh but dear you need to out shine that little step sister of yours though you didn't really need much help doing that you are far much more beautiful than she can ever hope to be" I was becoming really tired of them saying that again and again

There was a knock at the door and I said a quiet 'come in' and I knew that they had heard me when they entered and when I looked it was my favorite maid Tilly she had been with me since my mother had passed when I was at the tender age of 9

" Girls leave us I'll finish up dressing her" Tilly said and they all started to go out and they closed the door

"whats all of the dressing me up Tilly it's just the townspeople I don't need to look as though I'm going to meet with other royals I don't understand " I said "oh dear Scar if only your mother could see you now she would have tears in her eyes with how beautiful you look" Tilly said

"Thank you Tilly that means alot coming from you I do wish that she was still here as well instead of the woman that he's remarried to maybe then I wouldn't be leaving" I said

Tilly was the only one other than my good friend Lilly who knew I was leaving to go and explore the seas. She was the only person that would listen to me when I said that one day I would leave this place and go exploring and before I had met Lilly and the other Tilly was the only one that would encourage me to go and leave this place to find my own outside of these castle walls that were so much like a prison to me now.

"Nonsense child you and I both know that your mother would have been delighted that you took up sword fighting and you mastered all of your eiloquite classes unlike those stepsiblings of yours it's a wonder that they haven't shown your father their true colors yet"

"Yes she would, but sadly the dead is what it is and we can no longer dwell on the what ifs for if we do that we will never be able to look to a brighter future for a new day" I said smiling up at Tilly as what I had said brought her to tears with the amount that I had matured and grown up all under her watchful eye and I was grateful for that.

When I was finally dressed and ready to go there was only an hour left for the party to start and I couldn't be more happy this was the day were I could do anything I wanted and all of my village friends would be there to discreetly wish me good luck and do what they always do best party and party hard to give me enough time to go and get on the ship I had seen this morning that belonged to none other than Eric Black himself and his crew.

With these thoughts in mind I was barely able to contain my happiness that was until I got to the doors that lead to the ballroom and heard music that was meant for fancy parties and all my happiness melted away into rage that if you made the wrong move there was no telling what I would do to kind of rage. Tilly seemed to sense my sudden mood change and started to back away from me accordingly.

Before the door man could even open the door for me I pushed it open and didn't even stop to let them announce my name I looked around for the women I was forced to call mother and when I did and I saw her smug smile I saw red, but when I looked for my friends I saw that they were behind the gates I quickly walked out the glass doors ignoring all of the people that stopped to stare at what I was doing and when I finally reached the gates I threw them open and said loud enough for everyone to hear me " Come in Come in, my friends I hope you all do enjoy my 18th birthday and have a wonderful time " with that said they all smiled at me and started to come in and mingle with everyone else and when I turned around I was that women turn as red as a tomte with her rage, but now it was my turn to have a smug smile on my face.

As everyone started to get comfortable I motioned to Lilly and she started to get this party In full swing when I looked back giving one last smile to the people that I had befriend in the tavern and the village and turning back around I walked out the doors unnoticed and grabbed the clothing that I normally wore when I went out and grabbed the clock that my mother had given me as well. This was it I was finally free.

Watching her with that Griffin had to have been something that even the blind would have wished that they could have seen I had never seen a Griffin come up to anyone let alone it be the king of all Griffins, but then again I was the only human to help a Phoenix and they were just as rare as the Griffin's were but that was a long time ago when I was not but 16 years old and now I was 20.

How time fly's, for it feels as if it were only yesterday that I was once just a common mercenary those some would say that I was the best of the best for I was known as the Black demon but I had lost that title to an assassin that appeared out of nowhere calling themselves Red no one had ever seen their face and I was determined to get that person to join the crew ..... Only one problem I couldn't find them and no one knew what they looked like but now I had finally gotten a clue and was going to use it to my full advantage .

This village wouldn't know what hit them until it would be too late and their precious princess would be with me not by force but willingly after all that bar mistress and those ruffians really wanted this princess to be free and I was all to happy to be the one that took her from here as long as she was with me I would never let anyone take her away from me until I had taken my last breath, and I don't think she would really even try to leave me even if she wanted to my crew and I were determined to keep her for she had eluded us for far too long and that was a feat in of itself to do.

I don't know what it was about her that made me feel this way, but whatever it was I didn't want to let it go at least not any time soon and I had a feeling that once she was on my ship and with my crew they wouldn't want to let her go either. There was also another upside to all of this as well the ship's strategist was the only girl on there and she had been gripping at anyone that would stand still long enough that she wanted another girl on there and though Rosa said she loved all of us we wouldn't understand the problems of the female heart and none of us could disagree with her on that either, because sadly it was true.

When I was finally ready to go I want to make sure that this plan went smoothly so I walked up the hill that lead to the Lovely Princesses castle and stopped when I saw the large group of people just waiting there calmly and I wondered why the gates weren't open for the people to walk in. When I saw Lilly I walked over to her " why aren't the gates open yet I thought everyone invited to her 18th party" " we are but the Queen doesn't want commoners in her castle at least that's what the guard told us" I noted the way she put more infuses on the word queen than necessary and before I could ask her why my breath was taken away by the same person. The way she was dressed was more beautiful than words could describe her red hair was left down, but she was in a black gown that stood out from the rest around her with the emeralds that were sown into the dress she was like the night sky and the forest her hair made me think that she had just come from a wat with its red beauty. Her face was set in a dark scowl that made me think she was out for blood and when she was to the gates and threw them open and welcomed everyone in with a smile I finally knew that I had meet my match and there would never be another like her not as long as I lived for she was it I would give her everything she ever wanted even if it was my life it would he hers to do with as she pleased.

After an hour of waiting I watched her go outside and look back throwing everyone one last smile and I knew it was time to go I followed her out and saw her get some clothes that were hidden in the bushes and waited for her to change when she started to walk down to the road to the docks I went back to where she had changed and grabbed her dress you never know when you might need fine clothing I then walked to the stables and walked till I found her horse I saw how close they were so I would bring him along and we could take him to a friend of mine that would keep him safe " Alright horse I'm going to take you with me and were going to catch up to your master so don't bite or kick me or will never get out of here in time" and like he understood every word I had said we walked out of the stables and followed the road to the docks to ward my ship the Raven this was going to be one excited adventure that was for sure.
