"Mom, dad, I'm retiring early tonight. Tell grandma and grandpa I love them and I'll see them tomorrow morning." I kissed both my parent's cheeks and slowly walked up the old mahogany stairs which lead to my room.
"It feels good to be in England." I mumbled to myself and began to strip of my clothing. I entered the bathroom and started a hot, bubbly bath. Yes. That's what I need.
It was an extremely tiring day. It is my birthday, after all. October 31st; the day I turn fifteen. Today was full of shopping sprees, birthday breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and much more.
I just need a break.
I sighed in relaxation, "this is exactly what I need." Then, there was a tapping on my window that made me jump.
"What the—is it that perverted neighbour?!" I yelped whilst grabbing my faded blue towel. It wasn't, after all. A glass window separated me and a brown owl with a letter in its beak.
I hesitantly opened the window and snatched the letter from the owl. It quickly fluttered away leaving me confused. The front of the letter read: Catriona Ainsworth.
6754 Cardinal St.
Putney, London.I furrowed my brows and opened the letter, which stated:
Dear Miss Ainsworth,
I am happily to announce you have been accepted into Hogwarts, school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. School has already started, but with your sudden presence in England, you are now eligible to attend. Please come as soon as possible. I will have someone come by your home as soon as you open this letter to take you to the Wizard World.
I am very pleased to have another student join Hogwarts.
Sincerely,
Albus DumbledoreMy eyes widened slightly. I needed a moment to process this...I've been accepted into a magical school? But neither of my parents are magical! How can this be?
Suddenly, my bedroom door bursted open and came in two people. One, a very tall man with a large messy brown mane. He held an umbrella in his right hand and a box in another. Next to him was a shorter boy who looked about my age. He had jet black hair, round glasses, emerald green eyes and was a slim, slightly muscular figure.
I yelped and ran back into the bathroom, since I was only in a short rundown towel. I looked for an outfit placed out by my mother for tomorrow so I decided to put that on quickly. I combed my honey-coloured hair and just let it dry, since it was quite short.
Slowly, I walked back into my room to see the same to people in their same stance as before. Except, the black-haired one's face was crimson red. I couldn't blame him. He did nearly see me naked, after all.
"'ello, Miss Catriona! The name' Hagrid. Thi' boy next to me," Hagrid gestured to the boy with glasses, "his name e' 'Arry."
Harry waved to me, "nice to meet you." He mumbled sheepishly.
"'Appy birthday! Fifteen, correct?" Hagrid placed down the box, and there seemed to be a cake in there, "made et myself. You can ea' it on the way to Hogwarts."
"Hogwarts?!"
"You go' the le'er, right?"
I nodded, "yeah, I did. But I though the neighbour next door was playing a prank on me or something. I'm not magical." I laughed.
When neither of them laughed, I stopped.
"I mean, I can't! Neither of my parents are magical of any sort. Magic is just in fairytales you get told when you're a child."
