Bubbly Letters

I mutter the lyrics under my breath to the tune of the song. My head bobs with the beat, and I feel a shoulder roll coming on as I get into the groove. My mind is at ease, lost in thought, and peaceful as my hand slides over a sheet of paper back and forth. With a pencil in hand, I smile at my satisfactory figures.

Almost done with the design

I set my phone down and ponder the colors I should add. I've always loved art. Something about creating such beautiful pictures with nothing but your hand as a guide, has always left me in awe. That's why ever since I had the option to choose my first elective in middle school, art was the class for me. I've taken it every year since, and now I'm in Advanced Graphic Design.

I wouldn't say I'm great at it, but I'm decent enough to pass the classes, and earn the credits I need to graduate. Plus, it's heaps of fun so why not?

Yesterday, Caleb asked me if I could help him with this little art project he was doing as an anniversary present for April. He knew I've been taking art in school, and that I enjoy it, so I didn't mind lending him a hand.

It's been almost two months now since they started dating, and honestly things have been pretty good between us. It practically feels like we never even admitted that we liked each other. I have been able to hang out with April as well, and we get along swimmingly.

She's very sweet, she dresses like a classy player, and best part, she doesn't always ignore me! I have to admit, I approve. Sometimes we even hangout when Caleb isn't on. Well kind of. We hang out... in the same chat room that is. Sure we may be talking with different people, but we acknowledge each other's presence. Overall, she's a great girl and I think shes perfect for Caleb.

She's a lucky girl.

I hold up the sketch pad out in front of me to get one last view of the whole thing. On the paper are 3-D words saying "I Love You April". I thought it was cute. He wanted something that was simple, seeing as it was only their two-month anniversary, but also something he could put effort into to show how much he cares. We were brain storming ideas all night last night and we finally settled on a good-looking handmade "I love you" text.

I created three different designs for him to choose from. The one I just finished was blocky, sharp, and made of 3-D shapes. The other, bubbly and soft with a few shine effects to give it depth. And the third was almost graffiti like, but more Kaji-style. A.k.a Crappy Graffiti. I send him pictures of my designs to get some feedback.

Sorry these all kind of suck, I usually touch up my pictures on a computer to make it look good. Which one you feelin'?

He exaggerates so much, but still I can't manage to wipe the sheepish grin off my face. I love what I do, and when others express even a hint of fondness towards my work, I'm satisfied for life.

Joy: I don't know which design to choose :/ What if she doesn't like the one I pick? Hell how am I even supposed to replicate that, I can't recreate that?? Mines gonna look like trash Kaji WE NEED TO ABORT.

Lmfao oh my dear god boy, you're overthinking this way too much! April will love anything you give her, so long as its 100% from you. That's all she cares about. Just the fact that you're putting so much thought into this would mean the world to her, I'm sure. Don't worry about it ok? Now what would be bad, is if you gave her a gift that your friend made because you didn't want to do it. Is that what you want to give her? HM?

I laugh at the situation at hand. He's such a drama queen sometimes, I just can't deal with it. I look at the sketchbook once more, and the pleasant smile that tugged the corner of my lips slowly fades, and is replaced with a small knot in my stomach.

Joy: And you're right. I just have to stop worrying. I just kinda doubt myself all the time .-. I mean, c'mon am I really good enough for her? The past month has been amazing, and I want her to know that. The only way I can do that, is by giving her the best that I can give. I get that. Thanks Kaj. At it again with the wise advice.

Joy: I think I'm liking the 3-D letters, what about you? The graffiti is on point, but mine is going to turn out NOTHING like that lmfaoo It was a close tie between the bubble letters and the block letters, but I think the bubble letters are a little too girly for me to draw heh.

I think this book literally has the worst chapter titles.
