crows

The crows soar in the atmosphere

Their squaks echo in my ears

They think I'm dead.

"That's partially true." says the voice in my head

Eyes closed, mind open to new sinister thoughts

Placidly composed, though the birds are overwrought

"Your lifelessness is revealing." it mocks

Encircling birds have a nasty tendency to stalk

Covered in peace, drenched in fear

The indifference suddenly becomes severe

"Are you feeling too much, or too little?"

The voice says rhetorically in attempt to belittle

Dispirited and indecisive

Though unfeeling, the crows cause my mind to become divisive

________

This poem is based off a recent real-life scenario where I was lying down on the concrete and all of a sudden, I heard crows circling above me but I didn't open my eyes. The feeling I had in that moment was so strange, it was like I was frightened but I didn't truly feel that way. I didn't want to open my eyes so I didn't, and the most-likely-true phrase, "They think I'm dead" popped up, then something sudden snuck into my mind which was, "That's partially true"... And I created further.  ^
