Heartkit felt a breath on her back. It was her mother. Her mother, Grasswhisker, was waiting for her kits to open their eyes. Heartkit stuffed her nose under her moms tail and tried to stretch open her eyes. An excited squeal split through the den as her sister, Bloomkit, opened her eyes for the first time.
"Grasswhisker! Grasswhisker! I opened my eyes!" She squealed. Heartkit tried again, determined not to be the last one.
"Haha! I did it!" Dashkit crowed. No fair! In wanted to open my eyes first! She tried and tried again but all it did was make her feel more miserable. "Don't rush it sweety." Her mother chided. Heartkit just sighed. Her brother and sister where already tussling and climbing the other cats in the den.
"Watch it!" Hissed a very cross, unknown she-cat. Heartkit giggled as she heard a thump of a kit landing on the floor. She tried to blink and the blackness faded. She could see! "I did it!"

"Come on Bloomkit! Your to slow!" Dashkit teased at the lagging sister. They where running around and trying to meet the new cats. Heartkit was still sitting by the nursery. The bramble and ferns that surrounded the den made her feel safe. The clearing was sandy and where there was grass, it would be mostly covered up by cat fur.
Grasswhisker ducked out of the nursery, her sweet scent reminded Heartkit of milk. Grasswhisker had a brown pelt with a black tail. Dashkit looks almost exactly like her except for the eyes."Aren't you going to play with your littermates?" She asked, sitting down and wrapping her black tail around her kit. Heartkit shook her head. "All they are doing is running around and bothering the warriors." Heartkit replied with a sigh.
Grasswhisker stifled a purr. "You'll be doing that to soon enough." At that, her mother walked away to lay down next to a gray warrior.
I'll go adventure! If I'm quick, the others won't see me. She got up and scampered towards the den nearest to the nursery. It smelled old and rugged. It was a very big bush, tightly woven by brambles and an occasional vine. She poked her head inside and saw a ruffled furred she-cat. She was curled up and was snoring softly. Heartkit sneezed and wiped a white paw over her brown splotched muzzle.
The old cats head began to lift so she dashed for cover. She hid under a fern nearby, sheltering from view. The old cat walked out of the den and looked around, baffled. This is way more fun than running around! I'm a DarkClan spy!
"Berrystem! Your not usually up this early. Did you sleep well?" A orange tom walked up to the elder known as Berrystem. "Oh I was just-" she glanced around than continued again. "I'm pretty sure I saw a white kit watching me sleep." Berrystem said, looking around again. Heartkit giggled. Way more fun!
"I'll track the kit for you. Find the curious little fluff." The tom replied. "Oh don't bother with it Sparrowfeather. Its fine." She purred. Heartkit's legs began to get sore from crouching so she adjusted her pace. She froze when she saw Sparrowfeather's ear twitch. He nodded and padded away. Berrystem yawned and went back to her nest.
Heartkit crept out and licked her fur clean. She looked around the clearing and saw Dashkit and Magmakit in a tussle. Both toms where equal in strength but Magmakit was a bit bigger. Bloomkit and Leafkit where chatting like roosters and Boulderkit was playing moss-ball with Thrushkit. Seems like they are all busy.. I'll just join Dashkit and Magmakit in their play fight!
Heartkit dashed over to the two and sat down. "Can I join?" She asked politely. They both stopped. "Sure you can!" Dashkit purred. "We can do an arena battle!" Magmakit hissed playfully. Heartkit nodded frantically.
Magmakit bushed up his orange and white pelt and growled. "Fight me RainClan weaklings!"

Heartkit felt sore everywhere. She kept getting pushed down by Magmakit and Dashkit each time they fought. Was she really that small? I am small. I'll always be small. She pouted and watched her clan separate into their dens. She hadn't explored everything yet so she looked around the clearing. A rock shot out of a ledge and had a ramp made of stone. She guessed it was High Rock. Right below it was a cave that smelled like moss and bracken. There was also a crevice by the cliff that surrounded their camp. It smelled sweet, sour, and something else she wouldn't be able to describe.
The den closest to the crevice was the den where Sparrowfeather and the other warriors slept. Almost right next to it was a den made of ferns and rocks. She guessed it was the Apprentice's Den because Shadowpaw was asleep in it already.
Dusk was closing in fast before she realized that Grasswhisker was calling. She hurried to her mother and littermates who where sitting at the nursery entrance. "Get some sleep. Tomorrow you meet your father." She said, licking each of her kits in turn.

The next morning Heartkit woke up early. She was so excited on meeting her father she couldn't stand it. Her mother was still asleep and Bloomkit was almost going to wake up. Dashkit was huddled on Grasswhisker head. She twitched her whiskers and looked to make sure the other queen was asleep. Fernwisp was curled around her four kits and had her head under her paws. Heartkit dashed out of the den and breathed in the morning air. The camp was scuttling with activity. Mousestar was talking to a brown tom with cool black stripes. She was twitching her whiskers and her mouse brown tail was curled up neatly.
Suddenly the brown tom pricked up his ears and looked in her direction. His amber eyes blinked at her and Heartkit smiled. He padded over and stood before the small kit. He was broad shoulders and he had a scar over his eye from a recent battle.
"Are you Grasswhisker's kit?" He asked with a purr. Heartkit nodded and waggled her stubby tail. He blinked at her fondly. "Your... Heartkit? Right?" He asked, sitting down. She nodded again. He purred and licked her white and brown face. "I'm Sharpclaw. Your father."
