Oh Adohnis, beloved of goddesses and mortal women,
We mourn for you Adohnis when beauty is lost. When dark factories pump smog into the polluted air, where once were green fields, woodland and the crisp scent of Spring.
We weep for you as beauty fades, longing for lost youth, as all must wither and die.
But you are the beauty in death too, oh ever youthful Lord of life,
Beloved of Aphrodite and of Dark Persephone,
You are the beauty that empassions the soul, that stirs it to love.
Beauty is the object of every love's yearning
The soul's progress towards ever purer beauty, progressing through lives, laws and kinds of knowledge to arrive at beauty itself.
Then will we know Thee, Oh Adohnis.
Beauty engages the soul and draws it towards the search for truth, to the thought of absolute beauty.
