"Sweet gods, yes!" Nick exclaimed, his voice thick. "If you're really sure..."
Instead of answering, Stefan kissed him again. Until that moment, Nick had always imagined he would be the one taking the lead, if Stefan ever wanted to test his sexuality, but Stefan wasn't waiting.
One hand was cradling the side of Nick's face as he kissed him, the other was burrowing inside his briefs, touching and stroking as much of him as he could.
A small part of Nick's brain which was still thinking, suggested that perhaps they should take things a bit slower, after all, this was Stefan's first time with a man. He'd spent hours weaving fantasies about a slow, careful seduction with lots of opportunities for Stefan to back away if he wanted to—and they'd all just been blasted into space.
Stefan was devouring him, making up for weeks of longing and frustration. Nick could only hope this was more than stress relief, more than a reaction to the emotional roller-coaster he had been on—but there was no way on Earth he was going to ask Stefan to stop now.
Nick was so aroused he thought he was going to last maybe a minute, maybe thirty seconds more. He slid his hands down Stefan's strong back to the waistband of his briefs and peeled them back over his taut buttocks, pushing the briefs down his legs as far as he could manage. He dug his fingers into the firm flesh, squeezing and kneading, pressing their hips harder against each other. Stefan's hand was still between them. Busy.
"I want to see you naked," panted Nick.
"Later!" said Stefan. "Right now I just want..."
Oh god, he was going to ... going to... "Stefan!" Nick exploded. Stefan followed a second later.
Stefan realised he was still lying heavily on top of Nick. He tried to move, only to find Nick's arms clenching tightly around him, as if he would never let him go.
Nick's eyes were still dilated and he was breathing hard. He stared up at Stefan. "Are you okay?" he asked.
"That was... that was..." Stefan shook his head. "Sorry if I was too—"
"You weren't!" Nick interrupted. His eyes were fixed on Stefan's, warily, waiting for his reaction. Was Stefan going to freak out over what they'd done? His arms tightened involuntarily.
Stefan ran his forefinger gently round Nick's slightly swollen lips.
"Can we get up and have a shower... and then come back to bed? I'm sure there's lots more you can teach me." He smiled, his eyes growing hot again, just imagining what else they might do.
Later, sitting opposite across the breakfast table, Stefan spoke in a serious voice. "I've been thinking..."
The words sent an icy bucket of water over Nick's happiness. He couldn't help the fear in his eyes. Was Stefan going to pull away? Now that they'd had their night together?
Stefan was topping up his coffee cup and didn't notice. "My birth name—the name my mother chose—was Dominic Beaudin, did you know that? Beaudin was my mother's family name."
Nick shook his head, lips clamped together. What was Stefan saying?
"Then, when I was adopted, Viktor changed it by law to Stefan Rice. Now that Viktor's... gone... I was wondering about changing it again."
He looked up and saw the colour only just starting to seep back in to Nick's white face.
"Nick! What's the matter?" In seconds he was around the table, pulling Nick out of his chair and into his arms. "What on Earth's the matter?" he said again.
"Nothing," muttered Nick, ducking his head, furiously embarrassed. "For a moment I just thought..."
"What did you think I was going to say?" said Stefan sternly, gripping Nick by the shoulders. "Idiot! I'm not leaving you, unless to tell me to go. I love you. Haven't you realised that by now?"
"You do?" asked Nick, hardly daring to believe.
"Yes." Stefan kissed him, hard. "Do you think maybe you might love me too?"
"I think I fell in love with you the moment you smiled at me," confessed Nick, his eyes shining.
Sometime later, Nick raised his head from Stefan's bare shoulder and asked, "So what were you saying about your name? You're going to change it back to Dominic Beaudin?"
"I don't think so," Stefan paused, turning his head to look into Nick's eyes. "Actually, I was thinking of Dominic Mars. What do you think?"
