Illuminated

Chapter 5

 The whole place was surrounded by a pit of boiling lava and the air was burning hot. Frisk was fortunate enough to find a small machine that gave free cups of water and gladly took the chance to drink a few cups before moving on. They came across a large white lab which they thought was... odd. Both paths from their left and right were barricaded off though so they had no choice but to enter inside the lab. Cool air brushed against their face the moment the door opened and they were glad that air conditioning ever existed.

"I see the human had finally made it here... Welcome to my lab, Frisk! You are quite an interesting human... Not only have you survived so far, but you even tamed down a lot of the monsters... I'm quite impressed!" A lizard looking monster spoke out in front of Frisk. It's eyes were a sharp pin-prick black with crimson irises and the glasses it wore were round, but cracked along the edges. It wore a white lab coat and it's scales were similar to Undyne's if not a shade darker. There were also large black spots on it's tail, hands and forehead.

"How do you know?" Frisk signed to the monster and took a few steps backwards. The monster laughed a little before snapping it's fingers and a large screen between the two turned on. There were several panels showing up and it showed Frisk's journey so far from when they existed the ruins, met the shadow brothers, befriended Rust after their fight, went into the dark cave and met Undyne, getting out of the cave and where Rust had helped them escape.

"See? I've been watching your progress through several cameras I've set around the Underground. Nothing can get passed these eyes." It spoke in a female tone and it's tail curled slightly around it's feet.

"I am Dr. Alphys by the way! Just call me Alphys. I'm uh... Not one of the monsters that would want to hurt you. I'm in no way of a fighter and while I'd love to do research on you... I suppose that will have to wait for now. I know you plan on going to the castle and finding a way to help the monsters and I thought it was... Interesting. I can help you get to the castle, but after that you are on your own." Alphys said and turned her back towards Frisk before walking away. Frisk hesitated for a moment but shook their head and quietly followed behind, wary of Alphys, but they were glad to accept any help right now. They both entered into an elevator and Alphys had punched in a series of numbers which made the doors slowly slide shut and the metal box shook for a moment before ascending up.

"It is a bit of a maze here, but it's a good thing I have an elevator... Once we reach to the top I cannot guide you any further. There is a bit of a... Problem. A recent creation of mine has gone astray and refuses to listen to me now. I can't go anywhere near this... 'Resort' he's made. I'm sure he will take an interest to you though and let you inside, but must warn you. He is not quite fond of humans, see? You'll most likely be chased again and forced to go through his weird games. I'm sure you will do fine though, kekekeh..." Alphys chuckled and the elevator made a small ding sound before the doors slid open. There was a large building up ahead and there were purple neon words in the shape of MTT Resort hanging in the front of the building. Frisk slowly walked out and turned back to Alphys who gave them a small smile as if she knew something bad was going to happen.

"Good luck..." She whispered before the doors slid back shut. Frisk sighed quietly and walked ahead, catching glimpses of the monsters nearby who just stared back at them but didn't move.

Upon entering the building, lights would flicker on and off and small sparks would rain down every now and then. There was graffiti all around the walls and they could hear a faint sound of music playing from afar. There was a fountain in the middle of the room that sprayed out a red liquid and when Frisk walked by, they could smell the distinct smell of alcohol. They stuck their tongue out and gagged for a second before turning forward and walking along, following the red carpet up to a flickering sign that read MTT Resort. They continued to walk and glanced around the area which was empty, but the music was growing louder and louder. Frisk used the elevator up head which brought them up several floors before exiting into a dark room. Music was blaring loudly and there was a human-like figure standing in the center. Several lights had flashed and showed a robot standing there and staring at Frisk with dark red eyes. It's metal hair-like structure was black with red streaks and there was an upside down dark red heart imprinted on the chest piece of it's body and it grinned slyly.
