You are my sunshine
You are the star of my moonless night
You are the sublime spring after winter has gone by,
You are my heart , my little lady
It was the most beautiful day ,
The sun was shining,
There was a warmth and freshness in the air .
When the nurse came with you in her arms
My little bundle of joy
You were so small
Two tiny feet and hands
I was so scared , that I might hurt you
Then you opened your eyes, the colour of the night sky and smiled .
And in them I saw trust and joy
That it touched and soothed my soul
Your smile was like dew drops on a lotus
Like beads of pearl floating on a sea tide
Glistening under the sunlight.
