Rushing through the airport took a lot of effort,I was literally wheezing when I boarded the plane. It was such a relief to finally be seated. Greeting a Mexican family take so much time there is so many family members.
As I take you on this journey there's somethings you need to know about me.
My name is Jacob Perez,I'm 22 years old and i'm from a poor neighbourhood in Mexico. Growing up wasn't easy well living in poverty is never easy. As a young boy I was always very observant of my surroundings and when I got to high school I made a vow to myself that I'll work very hard to make a better life for my family and I. When I graduated high school I received a scholarship to attend harvard university to study law. My mother Theresa was very proud that I'll make something of myself and that I'll provide a better life for my brother José who is 5 years old.
Attending university and being away from my family was hard but I made a vow to myself and I worked extremely hard to make my dream a success. After I graduated I was very fortunate to find a job at one of the best law firms in LA, Benjamin and associates. This was such a great moment in my life it was validation that my hard work payed off.
So right now I'm on my way to LA to start my new job.
There's still a small little thing I forgot to mention is that my family is very religious so being gay is not acceptable but being far away from home will give me an opportunity to be the real me...
