Just in Time

Chapter 3

Evangeline's POV

I follow Rose back into the house, I can't believe she fell for it! That was hilarious!

We get into what seems to be the kitchen.

"Do you think anything will be edible here?" Rose asks and looks in a pantry I join her and the only things in it is moldy beans.

"Probably not, we can look around tomorrow for food sources, and water. For now we should just find a safe place to sleep." I say and she nods.

We walk up some stairs and down a hallway. There are three doors, we go into each room one by one. One room was a bathroom and the other two were bedrooms.

We choose the bigger bedroom and clean it up a bit. It was a brown color, but looked to be originally painted red. It had a king sized bed and connected to a bathroom.

"This should be good for the night." I say after we are done. Rose nods and we climb into the bed.

"Do you think they know we are missing yet?" Rose asks.

"They probably do, those bozos are probably sending out every search hin they have to find us, especially after they find out we stole a transporter." I say and laugh.

"Do you think they're worried about us?" Rose asks and I look at her face, tears are coming out of her eyes.

"Listen, I'm sure they are. We can't go back though, they'd kill us. I'm sorry you had to leave your family behind, but I did too, we will adapt to this new life." I say and Rose stays quiet.

After a while I drift asleep.

I open my eyes and look over at Rose. She's sitting up staring at me, she looks like she didn't sleep at all.

"Morning." I say.

"Morning." She replies. I get out of bed and grab food from my backpack.

I hand her some bacon strips with a chunk of an apple, and I eat the same. We wash it down with some water.

"Okay, I'm ready to explore." Rose says and I take out a map.
