Trick or Treat

Aleks' P.O.V

It was late October, Halloween to be in fact. The wind easily blowing through my clothing and chilling me to the bone.

I tugged my hoodie tighter around me, we had finished trick or treating.

I know, boys at our ages shouldn't be trick or treating, but we all still look sixteen, in our current outfits, maybe even fifteen, so we were getting away with it.

I readjusted my Optimus Prime helmet on the top of my head. Right now we were taking a brake from walking around, we were at the edge of town, when Jakey spoke up.

"Hey! Have you guys ever heard of the Haunted Mansion near here?"

I stared at him skeptically, "you have got to be kidding me."

"What? What's this about a Haunted Mansion?" Jamie asked, adjusting the pikachu hood of his onesie.

Jakey, who was dressed as Link from Zelda, got up from where he was sitting on the hand railing and walked over to where Jamie and I were.

"Oh, poor innocent Jamie! Doesn't even know about the Haunted Mansion!" He said, throwing his arm around Jamie.

Jamie struggled to get the arm off his shoulders, after a few attempts giving up.

"It was a dark Halloween night, just like this one-" Jakey had started, but was interrupted by Michael.

"Just tell him what it is." Michael said, leaning against the railing, wearing his - most likely offensive - Native American outfit, already eating some of the candy he had already checked.

"Oh, fine! Take the fun out of it why don'tcha!" Jakey nearly yelled, pouting ever so slightly.

"ANYWAY, the Mansion is said to be haunted because every October, people will hear noises, sounds, little things, even voices, near the place. That people have seen shadows moving in there, have heard people talking, laughing, some have even reportedly seen lights on in the mansion."

"The Haunted Mansion is too cliché, why not something like, The Halloween House!" Jamie suggested, I let out a sigh.

"Yeah, I don't like 'Halloween House' either." Jakey states, Jamie faking hurt and sadness.

"Not that! That story, it's so dumb, I don't know how people still believe that." I say bluntly, popping some clean candy into my mouth.

"Dude, you seriously don't believe it?!" Jakey laughs, I send him a glare.

"Of course I don't, it's just a way to keep the little kids out of that place so they don't get hurt." I state logically, my attention back on the candy.

"Okay, how about this, if you can spend the rest of the night in the Mansion-"

"Halloween House!" Jamie interrupts Jakey, who has a look of total annoyance.

"The 'Halloween House'" he nearly spits out, "you can have all of my candy!" He finally finished.

I contemplate this, Jakey had started earlier than us and had gotten a lot of my favorite candies.

"Just the rest of the night?" I ask, still deciding.

"Just the rest of the night." He reassures me. "We'll tell your parents you're crashing at one of our places for a sleep over, they won't know a thing." He adds on, really trying to sell this.

I jump up from where I was sitting, grabbing my backpack and my bag of candy.

"Yeah, sure, I'll do it." I finally answer, feeling kind of pumped.

Jamie and Jakey did a high five, I guess they feel like they won this, but hey, I'll be the one getting the candy. I smirk at the thought, Michael just shaking his head at us all.

Jakey lead the way for all of us, we all followed in a two by two line.

We started on our way there, small talk between all of us until we got up to the front gate.

We were all silent until Jamie just proclaims "Wow, that's huge..."

"THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID!" Michael, Jakey and I all said in unison. Jamie just letting out an annoyed sigh.

Michael leans closer to me, "You don't have to do this, we always take from his candy pile when he's asleep from a sugar crash."

"I know, I was the one that started that, but I think it'll be fun, besides, I may be able to turn this on him" I reply with a devious smirk, he just softly laughs.

"Fine, but you have to share your winnings with me!"

"Why's that?" I ask curiously.

"Because, if something goes wrong, I'm going to be the first to get you out." He answers.

These guys may be pains in the butt, but they're good people.

I smile at him, "geez, going soft are we?" He immediately punches my arm for that comment.

"No, I just don't want my friend dying." He bluntly states, trying hard to not show the smile that's threatening to crack through.

"Are you guys going to start making out? Or are you going to go spend the night in the Mans-" "HALLOWEEN HOUSE!" "I'M NOT CALLING IT THAT, JAMIE!"

Before they could continue fighting about this, I decide to interrupt.

"Okay! When will you guys be here tomorrow?" I question, succeeding in distracting them from the stupid argument.

"We'll probably be here around nine, we'll be getting up early for a day after a Holiday, but not too early." Jamie states through a mouthful of what I believe to be snickers.

I readjust my backpack and face them, then the house, then them again.

"I guess, I'll see you guys tomorrow morning." I state, turning back to the house.

As I start to walk I hear their goodbyes.

A 'have a fun time!' from Jamie.

A 'Call us if anything goes wrong!' from Michael.

And a 'try not to die!' from Jakey.

I make it to the front door, but turn around for one last look at them. They were waving goodbye while walking back to their houses.

I waved back, before turning back to the door.

I wonder what it'll be like in there... Maybe there are holes in the floor or there's a terrible smell, nothing I can't handle, but hey, maybe there's a nice couch in there I can lay on and play my hand held games!

Gotta hope right?

As a just in case, I pulled my Optimus Prime helmet onto my face, hoping for at least a little protection. I reach out and take hold of the door knob, I closed my eyes and take a deep breath, opening it and checking the floor before walking in.

I hoped for a couch, but I hadn't hoped for what I got when I walked inside.
