"Get up!"

Loud obnoxious footsteps followed the annoyingly perky voice. Gumball grumbled a response, hiding within the folds of his blanket as the shadowy figure of his roommate loomed over him. "C'mooooon Gummy I know you're awake!" Before he had a chance to react the blankets were ripped away from his body, revealing the black sweatpants and the pink tank top he'd been wearing as pyjamas. He silently thanked god that he worn proper pyjamas this time as he wanted to prevent the awkwardness that had passed between the two friends when Fionna had discovered him sleeping in nothing but a pair of boxers.

"Fionna get lost" he mumbled draping an arm over his eyes to block out the sun making the young woman huff in annoyance. "Don't make me pull out the mattress too" she threatened jokingly before turning her back to him "Remember! You promised to jog with me to class! Meet you down in 10 minutes" she sang in a cheery voice as she made her way back downstairs.

Gumball cursed under his breath as he sat up and rubbed his eyes tiredly spending the recommended 5 minutes to adjust his eyesight to his surroundings. Everything was a blur no matter how long he stared. Reaching blindly for his glasses, he grabbed them and fixed them in place before swinging his legs over the side of his bed and standing up. A groan left his lips as he stumbled towards the closet slipping on a fitting white shirt before settling on some shorts. Knowing that Fionna was bound to come running up the stairs if he didn't get moving so he made his way downstairs running his hand through his hair in an attempt to tidy it up.

"GUMBALL!?"

"Relax I'm here" he muttered under his breath as he entered the kitchen. As he sat down to eat he felt a pair of his joggers being shoved into his chest. "No time for breakfast! Here! Put these on. I already packed your bag. We're gonna be late." A hurricane of words left the blonde's mouth despite it sounding like she had food crammed into her chubby cheeks.

"Alright but Fio I-" A shriek left his lips as he was dragged outside into the open and his bag thrown at him causing him to stumble back in annoyance." "FIONNA!" he said angrily trying to remain focused as he slipped the bag over his shoulders. She laughed as tied a white bandana in her hair "Yeah, yeah thank me later" she grinned before starting to jog along the quiet pavements. A small chuckle left Gumball's mouth as he stepped into his joggers and jogged after her.

Despite being close to complete blindness he had lived in the neighborhood for a couple years and had taken the same route to college. He had memorized all the bumps and objects that blocked his path to avoid them however there were still some times Fionna had to tug him into place when he strayed too far.

It took them 20 minutes to jog to the spacious front oval of the college which was littered with lone students who were scratching furiously at paper with pen or groups of students who sat soaking up the sun and gossiping. Fionna checked her watch and grinned "New personal best!" Gumball laughed breathlessly at that "You always have a new record" he insisted jokingly as he straightened out, taking a deep breath of the thick air that hung over them.

"Well I've got class in 10 minutes" she finally said as she reached into Gumball's bag and pulled out the retractable 'seeing stick' as they both referred too before handing it to him. "Call me when you have a free kay?" She gave him her signature smile before waving and jogging into the main building to meet up with her group, Catherine, Phoebus and Matt otherwise known as Cake for her sweet and sugary appearance despite the theatrics she often displayed; Flame for his hotheadedness; and Monochromicorn for- well... Gumball wasn't sure. He had met them both individually and in pairs and they seemed nice enough all except for the infamous Marshall Lee.

Gumball didn't hate him because he was a jerk. No.

Gumball hated that he loved him.

Sometimes he lay awake at night wishing he wasn't so stubborn but his heart wasn't ready to forgive.
