As the author I suppose it's my job to tell you, the reader, the happily ever after. That they found a cure for Gumball and both he and Marshall rejoiced at Gumball being able to see again.
Forget it.
This is a happily ever after of some sort but not quite the Disney fairytale you're accustomed too.
Phoebus otherwise known as Flame and Finn (who turned out to be Fionna's cousin) hit it off pretty well and ended up dating after both had graduated college. Flame had planned to ask Finn beforehand but Fionna has informed me that he didn't have the balls to do it and had to take matters into her own hands (or so I'm told.) Cake and Monochromicorn had always been frisky lovers and ended up dropping out of college a year before graduation due to Cake's unexpected pregnancy.
Twins I heard it was. A boy and girl.
Monochromicorn and Cake are both very happy with their life, putting their family first and bringing them over to every Easter, Christmas and every holiday gathering to spend some time with the group of old friends including Marshall. As for Fionna she was always ambitious and became an extreme sport instructor not caring to play the role of a married wife and mother so instead dedicated her life to teaching students to overcome their fear and taking life head on.
Literally.
As for Marshall and Gumball well...
PRESENT DAY
Marshall grinned excitedly as he led his husband towards the run down adoption agency "C'mon Gummy! We're late!" Gumball laughed making Marshall's heart beat faster from hearing that precious sound as he allowed himself to be dragged into the agency "Coming, Coming! Give me a second to catch my breath" Gumball smiled teasingly adjusting his dark shades properly as Marshall spoke with the manager hurriedly, excitement laced in his voice.
The manager flashed him a brilliant smile as she disappeared into the children's room emerging with a young bright eyed girl, thin and frail her eyes abnormally beautiful as she looked up at her soon to be parents. Marshall smiled and kissed Gumball's cheek, murmuring soft encouraging words as he knelt down slowly, Marshall's hands around his waist; helping him down until he was eye level with the orphan girl.
"My name is Gumball" the pink haired male introduced, flinching slightly when the girl reached out instinctively taking the glasses delicately in her hands as she slowly eased them off just as Gumball closed his eyes. Marshall smiled softly and gently caressed his lover's shoulders, silently reassuring him as he opened his beautiful cloudy eyes staring straight through the young girl. "You're pretty" she mumbled cutely gently pressing her fingertips underneath his eyes. "So are you" Gumball whispered back softly continuing to stare past the girl, unblinking.
"How do you know?" the girl questioned curiously.
Gumball smiled and gently touched her cheek "I don't need to see you to know how beautiful your soul is." He fell back slightly as the girl tackled him in a hug, burying her face into his shoulder just as Marshall knelt down and embraced them both in a hug.
Marshall never knew he could nurture so much love for the two people he held in his arms at that very moment.
~
Later that night when they had put their now beloved daughter to sleep both men were leaned against each other on the couch, leisurely kissing one another Marshall pulling away slightly so that Gumball would give chase and pull him back into a soul shattering kiss. "Baby" Marshall whispered when both pulled away for some much needed air as his hand lovingly caressed his back "I need to ask you something."
