13 - Obstacles

A few years ago...

We were the schools number one couple, everyone knew us, Parker and I promised each other to always tell the truth, and we did, we told each other everything. There was always that one girl who had a crush on your boyfriend, in this case it was a girl named Heather Summerstone.

"Hey Parker," Heather approaches Parker and I.

"Hey Heath."

"Summerstone," I roll my eyes.

Heather and Parker were friends, good friends actually. One day Parker and I went to the park for some time together, and of course Heather was there.

"Dani--" he says but gets interrupted.

"Parker! Hey!" Heather approaches us.

"O-oh.. Hey," he says.

I stop them mid conversation and approach Heather, "I know what you're trying to do Summerstone."

"Oh? And what is that?" Her mood changes and she smirks, "well Parker, why don't you tell your girlfriend the other side of you?"

"Danielle--"

"He doesn't need to tell you anything!" I push Heather into the lake.

"H-help! Parker..!"

Parker begins to panic, "Danielle! Why did you do that!?" He yells at me.

"What are you hiding!?" I yell at him, "are you cheating on me?!"

And there it was, his fangs grew out and his eyes turned a light red. I was terrified, he was like my family, he was a vampire! He was furious.

"So what? Heather just w-went into the l-lake," I stutter.

"She's a vampire, Dani, Heather is as good as gone! And so are you.." He walks closer, but I take steps back.

"You're a vampire? B-but-- no.. Parker-- you promised to tell me everything!" I turn around and begin to walk away.

"I'm a full blooded vampire," he says as he runs super fast at me, before I felt anything I turn around and see Heather smash Parker on the ground.

"Run Danielle!!" She yells. I was confused as to why Heather was helping me.

"What!?" I yell.

"Run!" She repeats. I run away but I look back to see a white flash, I heard Heather scream and in another few white flashes... Parker and Heather had disappeared. They went into the full blooded vampire dimension, now Parker was back and I had no idea why.

Back to present

That's why I'm hesitant to date him again. But I had to, I had to help Jayden.

"F-fine," but you must help us open the portal," I say.

"Of course, Dani," he gives a creep smile.

Elana looks at me then walks over to the basement door, she looks at Parker, "don't touch anything, you're only here for the portal."

"And as Danielle's boyfriend," he adds and I shudder.

I walk close to Elana and we walk down to the basement.

"Alright, it says one full blooded vampire and one half blooded vampire stand on each side of the portal to open it.. Wait... There's a warning--" says Elana.

Joanne reads the line fast and flicks Elana, "no warning."

I nod and Parker stands on the other side of the portal, we were facing each other.

"What happens now?" I ask.

"The portal should light up..." says Elana.

I see Parker grab something out of his pocket, it looked like a gun. I hesitate for a few moments, we had to unlock the portal but I couldn't risk him causing any trouble so I run over there and push him against the wall, his gun in my hand and to his head, "what were you trying to do?" I ask.

"Danielle-- the portal!" Elana yells.

The portal had lit... But how?

"Danielle... Joanne is a full blooded vampire and she was standing on one side of the portal, as soon as you ran to the other side-- the portal lit," says Elana.

"Which means..." Joanne turns to Parker,  "you're clearly not a full blooded vampire!" She yellsz

"Danielle, if by chance you're a Darkrender vampire and you walk inside this portal... You'll get scars, permanent scars." Elana says.

"How do you know I'm a Darkrender?" I ask.

Elana shows me a section in the book:

Darkrender vampire: A vampire born to royal half blooded vampires, they are very rare but this makes all the children Darkrenders.

"So... You're saying I can't go inside the portal?" I ask.

"Well you can, but unless you want scars..." She leaves her sentence unfinished.
