"Shit, Granger! Why do you have to be so clumsy?" Draco muttered, sitting calming on his broom. Aren't you going to.... I don't know.... HELP HER?, His mind screamed, snapping him back to reality. A reality where Hermione is falling towards the lake, a lake where you go in.... You don't come out. Hermione screamed again, and Draco flew down towards her. Just. One. More. Inch., his mind screamed. Time almost froze, Draco's hand slowly reached out to Hermione. It clamped down around her waist like an iron bar. All to slowly, he pulled her onto his broom. No time to turn, they hit the lake with a sickening crunch. Within seconds the dark water soaked through to their bones, leaving a breath taking chill. The last thing Hermione heard was, "Oh, God. Hermione are you alright?"

"Granger? Granger? Hermione Granger, can you hear me? Earth to the know-it-all..." Draco said, as he shook Hermione's shoulders. Well, she's out... Hmmmmm... Might as well have some fun with this., He thought. Taking his finger, he started moving her lips, as though she was speaking. In a high-pitched voice, Draco imitated Hermione, "Oh, yes, Professor! I am a know-it-all! The only stupid thing I ever did was date The Weasel. He's such a git, unlike Draco.... He's soooooo Dreamy!" Draco let go of her lip, and sighed, "That felt good." Hermione opened her big brown eyes, "I'm soooooo glad it did, Malfoy... Because I'm about to kill you!" She said in a sugary sweet dewy voice. "GAH!" Draco cried as he fell out of the bedside chair, backwards. Hermione sat up slowly, taking in the fact she was in Draco's hospital bed. She should have been wet and cold, too, but she wasn't. Ahhhh, I LOVE magic!, She thought. "Tell me what happened and, maybe, just maybe, I won't kill you." She snickered as Draco got up off the floor. "I'm going to take you up on that offer, Granger. I know what your capable of... Every time I think about it my nose hurts!" Draco mumbled. "Sorry, Malfoy, but you shouldn't have said that. At that point I had so many bottled up feelings, I had to let them out somehow..." She laughed, it felt good to laugh. "Sooo... What happened? I thought we were in the Black Lake?" "Hold your Hippogriffs, Granger. What's the last thing you remember?", He asked. "You called me, Hermione." She whispered, closing her eyes. Draco froze, "Me? Granger, you must have hit your head. I have never called you that in my life. Ever." Hermione opened her eyes, " Right. So now I'm just imagining that you called me by my first name, when I almost DIED! Yes, that is so unrealistic.... You would never care that much about a MUDBLOOD, like ME!" She got out of the bed, and started to walk towards the door. "Granger, wait.", Draco called. "Why? Malfoy, your obviously well enough to take care of yourself. I see no reason to stay. Besides you don't want a Mudblood like me to be in your presents.", Hermione said, viciously. "But, Granger. You can't leave, Madam Pomfrey told you to stay." ,Draco said, victoriously. "Since when do you care about the rules, Malfoy? Anyway, she just wanted me to stay until you were up and had some food. I didn't even have to stay this long." She muttered. "But, you did. You stayed with me, even when you could leave. Granger, you care. You actually care about me.... Ha! Boy, would that make Weasel mad..." Draco cried, triumphantly  once more. "Stop! Don't call Ron that!" Hermione yelled. Draco raised a brow, " So you admit you care about me?" "I never said that." Hermione started. "But, you never doubted it either." He pointed out. "Well..." Hermione started., " Oh! Fine, I care! But only alittle. It's just, your one of the only people I grew up with, that didn't die." "Don't remind me.", Draco muttered. "What do you mean by that?", She questioned. "I told you before, Granger. Everyone I cared about is either dead or as good as dead in Azkaban. I have no one left. My life is pointless." He answered. He slowly walked towards the bed and sat down. Hermione turned to face him and sat beside him," I'm so sorry, Malfoy... I never knew..... Oh! Draco!", She whimpered, as she flung her arms around him, and cried into his shoulder. Draco froze in shock. She called me.... Draco. He thought. After a few minutes, or maybe it was hours, Hermione stopped crying and Draco found his voice. "You called me Draco.", He muttered, as she lifted her head. " I did. I'm sorry, I shouldn't have.... You just said the sadest thing!" , She whispered, with her arms still wrapped tightly around him. "It's okay....Actually, no it's not...I don't deserve your sympathy. I was horrid to you all those years, and now your trying to comfort me. Can't you see it's to late for me? I will always be a bloody, cold-hearted, Jack ass. So stop trying to help me! I will NEVER change!" Draco cried, shaking off Hermione. "I'm not trying to comfort you anymore than you are me. Draco, we've both been though a lot. Maybe it's time we started over and forgot everything that's happened. Maybe we could be friends." Hermione sighed. "Yeah, and maybe I can grow an extra head and name him Charlie.", Draco muttered. "Don't be like that, Draco. We can and we will." Hermione said, sternly, "Trust me. Everyone deserves a second chance...  Let me be yours." Draco laughed, "So, we're on a first name basis now? Eh, Granger? I don't think Weasley will like that very much. He hates me, and your his girlfriend. So I doubt that would be wise." "Forget Ron for a minute. I'm asking you now.... If you could be a different person, a better person, would you do it? Could you?" Hermione asked, then grasped his hand. "I don't- Yes. Of course. Always." Draco stuttered. "See there is some good in you." She laughed. "Oh, yeah?", He mocked. "Yeah, I think you do." she replied sleepily. "Thanks, Hermione." Draco whispered.
