We back away from the kitchen and head towards the living room, with the paper still in my hand. Katalina sits down in the chair staring at the ground, unsure of what to do.
" This needs to stop. Just go back."
" No Sophia, I can't. You know that so just stop fighting me."
" Stop fighting FOR me. I never got a say in this, it's my life remember?"
" You just don't get it, do you? I'm not giving up."
It was at that moment that I looked into her eyes, seeing just how blue they truly were. Only my father's eye were blue, Mum's where a grassy green. A beautiful sea blue, I swear you could almost see waves.
" You have my father's eyes."
" Really?"
" Yeah he had blue eyes too. Mum had green and so did Joshua. You remind me of him. He was strong and never knew when enough was enough. He would always sit me down and say 'Don't give up Sophia, never give up because giving up limits the chances of success. And success means everything.' He knew what was right though, even though he was a stubborn ass."
" Guess that's where you get your stubborn ass from." She giggles and looks down at her feet, her smile slips.
" I know how much this means to you, I really do. I just don't want you to ruin your life for me."
" It will be worth it. Listen, even though we love you in 2304. It doesn't mean it's all singing and holding hands. Our government is going crazy over the past 20 years. We've turned back to violence and war, it use to be peaceful. The humans who know about us, threaten to expose us if we do not let them in. They want to study us, to take samples to see if they can find a way to purify the corrupt humans. Our leaders didn't want us to become the human's test rats so they build a wall to stop them coming in. Thus, leading to a war between human and us."
" By us what do you mean? Is there more people like you who can control people with a touch?"
" There are so many of us with all different powers. Abilities that you've probably read of in books or seen in superhero movies. I'm not going to go into too much detail about the powers because you are probably educated enough. However, there are some that are unable to control their abilities which causes havoc."
" So human want you to become their test rats. That's bad. I'm taking your side now. I didn't want to take sides until I knew both sides, something my brother said to me. Always see it from both sides."

I shuffled slowly towards my room, minding any objects that pose as a threat. My eyes drift towards the stairs and I began to crawl upwards towards my bedroom. I could hear Katalina shuffling behind me.
