I didn't stop and get food for a couple of days, I would assume by now I was in Oklahoma, or at least what it used to be. I'm not quite sure. I am almost out of food. I stop in a wooded area, surely it would cover me, right? It's night anyway, no drones would be around. I sighed, sinking against the rough tree bark and closing my eyes.
I thought back to the way life was before this. It wasn't the most pleasant, sure. But right now, I'd kill to have it all back. The friends I had, everything. I wonder how my friends were doing at this point. Did they submit to the dicator? Did they get killed off? I took a shaky breath and opened my eyes. I remember everyone and everything.
I started to drift into thought, remembering the windy but warm April day, the last time I saw my friends. We were all driving to a bigger city near our town. I was in the passenger seat as Paige was driving. The sweet scent of her perfume wafting through the car and hitting my nose as I listened to Max and Elija argue over something completely idiotic. I was laughing a little but I think I would have enjoyed it more if I knew it would be the last time we were all happy.
"Finn." Paige's soft voice sang, as I turned my attention to her. Then I don't remember. I sighed and opened my eyes, wishing I was still there. I had cared for all of them. Though I was starting to take romantic interest in Paige. That can all be forgotten now. Paige and I will most likely never speak again. I took one last look around before getting up and finding cover so I can sleep for the night.
