I never thought this day would come. Everything leading up to now seemed irrelevant. The warnings? The signs of the changing society? No, they never added up and just seemed like sporadic And single events. I thought that until the day that the world my friends and I knew disappeared as if it were never there.

I looked outside at the barren wasteland that seemed to spread for miles. If I hadn't known any better I would have mistaken it for the farm land it was before, just freshly plowed with the dirt overturned revealing mud, or maybe I would have thought that it had recently rained.

I glanced over when I heard a 'thump' from the opposite of the room. It reminded me that I should get moving before the guards or drones figured me out. I never thought I would have to do this, but it's ridiculous to focus on now. What's happened has happened. Now there's no turning back.

I grabbed the essentials, my dagger and my scythes. After that I just had to gather the parsal bag with the food I had stolen and put it in my pocket. It isn't much but it will have to do. I take one last look around the room, capturing the memory of the emptiness. It was never this way when it was a school, when I had came here to learn. Now it's unsafe.

I walked cautiously to the window and slowly pushed it open to where I could fit through. It wasn't that hard but once I had made it safely to the ground below me, I turned and shut the window.

Once the task of making everything appear normal was done, I turned and took off running. I had to get out of there as fast as I could. My old school was surrounded by drones and guards. I guess it was being used as a place to store the food for the nearby cities. I shook my head and began to focus on the sound of my feet hitting the ground as my muscle screamed in protest. This was going to be a long trip.
