Marinette glanced around her small pink room. She could've sworn she heard a small squeak, a little sound of some sort. She was occupied with her latest design - a periwinkle blue dress that had a modest neckline and a fringe on the hem. The high school Spring dance was coming up, and she had set her mind to making her own dress. Although she didn't want to be, it was clear from the design that she was going to be the envy of the party.

As she worked the sewing machine, the squeak was uttered again. At this, Mari startled, and the sharp needle pierced her forefinger. She grimaced at the large drop of blood and quickly grabbed a bandage from her drawer. She was always prepared in these situations.

Getting highly irritated - which was a rare emotion for her - she got up off her chair with a huff and glanced around the room once more. Her eyes landed on her empty abandoned jewelry box. Although she had never touched it, there is sat, the lid opened just a crack. Mari, now more scared than irritated, drifted over to the box. Quick as a flash, she flicked it open.

Mari let out a small scream.

In the box was a small red figure, with a large round head and bluebell eyes that were wide with surprise. It had a tiny body, and it was covered in black spots. Despite the fact that it looked like some supernatural creature, it was adorable.

"Oh my gosh," Mari whispered. "What the heck are you?"
