"Tis a..." He trailed off
I slid off Slivermare's back without moving the sword from his neck. A small dark red dragon sat perfectly still in his hand.
"Tis a dragon, Princess"
"Yes, I see that. How did you find it?" I asked
"I was working on a mans farm and I found an egg in the woods. The dragon hatched from it a month ago. Tis a boy"
I held my arm out to allow the creature to get my scent. Jackson walked away from the boy and stood next to me.
"Emilia, what breed of dragon is he holding?"
"Fire. The same breed Zara was. Tis the re...ason she had to d...ie. Only two fire dragons may live at a time" I answered
Nylah glided down off Slivermare's head and perched on my out stretched hand.
"Squire Lukas, have you named the hatchling?" I asked
"I haven't. I couldn't decide on a name"
Nylah tilted her head to the left then to the right as she observed the small dragons movements.
"Cato. He looks like a Cato" Jackson said
I slid my sword back into the frog and climbed back onto Slivermare. Jackson climbed into his horse's back and waited for me.
"Come Lukas. I could use you as an ally. There are many out there who want the power that I and now you possess"
He hid Cato back in his pocket and took my hand. He straightened his posture on my horse's back and held onto the saddle.
"How am I an ally? I am no Dragon Rider" he said
"I will have to do more searching. I have never heard of a dragon hatching for anyone other than a Dragon Rider. Jackson we must go back to the library for that book"
He rode in front of me until we reached the library not far from where we were. I slid off Slivermare leaving Lukas and the others behind as I walked inside the building.
"May I help you Princess?"
"I need to see the book on Dragon Riders again" I answered
"You might want to hurry and find it. A small group of men just came in asking if we had the book. We do, I don't know where it is in here"
"Ma'am is is okay if I take the book back to where I live?" I asked
"Of course. Keep the book safe"
I walked farther into the building until I reached the area I last left it. A big man walked around each book case searching through trying to find the book. I slipped my hood over my eyes, put the book behind my cloak, and left without looking suspicious.
"Jackson, we might have a problem. There are men after this book"
I took the book out from where I put it and handed it to him.
"Then we hide it, we hide it somewhere in the house were they will never find it" he said
He slipped the book into his bag on the side of his saddle before moving his horse in front of Slivermare.
"Book?" Nylah asked
"Tis a book on every Dragon Rider that has lived. I only got to what the book had on me. Maybe there is more on dragons that my guardian never knew"
I got back on Slivermare and followed Jackson back to the house with the rest of my army behind me.
