Hello! I'm a new writer here :)) I really like Girls' Generation, especially the otp 'Taeny' so I thought about making a fan fiction about them. I haven't written for a long looong time so please bare with me :D
Chapter 1 : Love
1ST PERSON'S POV:
Love? What is that? Is that something you can eat? Or is that something you can play with? Some say it hurts you the more you do it. So love is something you can do, right? It isn't something you can eat or play with. It's something you can't just take lightly. But how? How do you love? How do you know you're 'in love'? Wait... you can be in love? I thought this 'love' thing was something you do. You see? Love... it's complicated. You don't 'fall in love'. Because everything that falls, gets broken. You don't just be 'in love' for the sake of loving. Because love comes most beautifully when it's least unexpected.
I am Kim Taeyeon and this is my story about the struggle of being blind.
Yes, I am indeed sightless. Sightless as in, 'cannot see'. I wasn't born with this sort of 'gift'. It happened when I was a child. I was with my parents in a car accident, and yup, they died. I know I shouldn't be so passive about this but past is past, right? You have to move on.
I'm not actually 'blind'. I am blind in a way but I prefer to call this 'Vision loss'. This is that 'gift' wherein your eye sight comes and goes. A week or two, I can actually see the beauty of the world but then, my eyes suddenly shut theirselves down for months. If I'm lucky enough, I'd at least see once a month. But I'm okay. I'm more than lucky to be still living after a tragic history.
Right now, my doctor said I'd be 'un-sightless' for at least 4 months and if it goes on after 7 months, it's confirmed that this gift of mine is over with. I'm totally psyched about this! I mean, come on! I can only see for like, what? A week or so? And a bonus! I'm seriously going to make it to 7 months for sure.
2ND PERSON'S POV:
Today is the day! The day I finally start my first part-time job. I'd be meeting a lot of kids and babies~ Though, babies creep me out so much but I'm doing this for the sake of finishing uni and of course, helping a close relative. My aunt has this clinic for depressed, blind, deaf etc. people which my cousin is currently running. I really admire her since I, myself, am aspiring to be a renowned doctor!
So here I am, on my way to her clinic. I knocked lightly before entering, as a good girl with manners from a well-known family. Oh right, I forgot to introduce myself. I am Hwang Miyoung or better known as Tiffany Hwang, daughter of one of the most famous surgeons in Korea.
As I slightly opened the door, I called out to my cousin. "Hello? Unnie? Are you theereee?"
"Ah! Fany-ah!" There she is. The most beautiful yet most annoying cousin that ever existed. She ran up to me as I quickly closed the door after getting inside. Stopping in front of me, she opened her arms wide open. I smiled and snuggled up to her, hugged her tightly.
"Oh my gee, Tiff! You've grown into something sooo.. hmmm~" She batted her eyebrows as if she's like some old perverted geezer. I slapped her shoulder lightly and giggled, "Such a pervert, nie."
"Yeah, you love me~ .. Come with me." Hwang Jung Eum, 28 yrs old. The only person who can be cute at the second, and serious the next minute. I followed her to a room which seems to be her clinic. As I stepped inside, I took a good look. The room was decorated quite nicely, actually. So full of fluffy and cute stuff yet also full of dangerous things for operations.
"Miyoung-ah, this is where MY work is done~" Wait... did she just emphasize 'MY' in her sentence? "What do you mean 'My'? I thought I was going to be working with you on therapy thingies." I showed her my best pout but she just laughed at me so horribly. Wow, that was nice of her, really.
"Let's get this straight, kiddo." I'm not a kid, you ahjumma! "You're basically halfway of studying about therapy, I can't let you go wrong on my patients which is why I let you do a part-time job here!" I looked at her shamelessly, obviously not understanding what she meant, "Um your point is?"
"Miyoungie is here to see how the professionals do it~!" My face immediately frowned and I mentally face-palmed myself. "So I'm not doing any work here?" I scratched my scalp, getting a head-ache of all these confusions.
"Dude, you're going to work. I won't let you free lance here. You're going to be the receptionist~!" My mouth was left agape. I came here to do REAL work! I sighed and tried to react but she didn't give me a chance to. "Oh! The first appointment starts at 10! Go now~ Fighting, Fany-ah~" She pushed me outside and shut her door. See? I told you she's annoying.
1ST PERSON'S POV:
I'm going to see my doctor today for my check up this week. I began to feel my eyes slowly rolling but I'm sure it's not rolling literally. It just happens when I begin to gain sight again. But as this happens, I always feel weak and my legs feel shaky. Definitely wrong timing today. I suddenly feel a grip on my arm and I turn my attention to the person gripping me.
"Noona, are you okay?" I finally gain sight of everything all over again but my head really hurts. I looked up at the much taller person holding me close, my brother, Kim Myungsoo. One of the reasons why I have to keep on living; to see my brother stand up tall and become successful.
I smiled at him mischievously, "Myungie-ah... I can see you~" His eyes widened as he slowly burst into fitted laughter. I pouted at him cutely, "Why are you laughing, kid?!" He snaked his arms around my shoulder and patted my head "I'm happy for you, noona." Once again, I smiled at him, feeling lucky to have a younger brother as supportive as him.
We arrived in front of the clinic but then I felt Myungsoo grabbing something from his pocket "Myungie, what are you looking for?" He looked at me apologetically as I looked back at him with a confused expression "What?"
"I forgot I have work today, noona. Can you manage from here?" I flashed him an 'OK' sign as he grinned "You can go. Thanks, Myungie! Take care." He bowed to me and ran off immediately. I knocked on the door and took a peek inside. "Good morning---"
After that, words were left unsaid. Before me, was a woman. A beautiful woman to be exact. She noticed me quickly and smiled. Why are her eyes forming crescent moons? Is this what you call an 'eye-smile'?
"Good morning. You must be Kim Taeyeon, right?" I nodded and stopped, suddenly forgetting my name, and then nodded again. She giggled at the sight of me being like that which caused my blood to shudder up to my cheeks. I just wish she doesn't see me all flustered. "Please take a seat, Miss Kim."
I closed the door gently and scurried to the empty seats. I just sat there, staring at her and then a pang hit my heart and butterflies began to fly inside my stomach. Is this what it feels to be 'in love'?
