"Nice to see you again Katrina." He said with a smile but I knew if he could he would be smirking.

Fuck my life!!

Everyone turns to look at me.

"You two know each other?" His mom asked looking between us now.

I shake my head. "We just met yesterday."

At the same time, he said. "Yeah, we go way back."

I looked at him with a glare while he looked back smirking this time. Both of us staring into each other's eyes.

His dad cleared his throat breaking us out of our intense staring contest. "Let's head to the dining room." He said gesturing in the direction of what I assume was the dining room.

My parents nodded as they followed Mr. And Mrs. Michealson. Daxton stayed behind walking behind me.

"You clean up nice Kitten." He whispered in my ear with a wink. I couldn't help it as my heart fluttered. I quickly rounded the corner to catch up with my parents. At the head of the table was Joshua and to his right was his wife and to his left was my father. To his right was my mom. I naturally sat down next to my mom but what surprised everyone is when Daxton went out of his way to sit across from me when there was a space next to his mom. Nobody said a word about it though as we started to eat.

"So Katrina your mom tells me you're the class president. That's quite an accomplishment." Jennifer says looking at me.

"Thank you Mrs.Michealson and please call me Kat. Katrina is such a mouthful." I said with a laugh.

She laughed nodding. "Only if you agree to call me Jennifer." She said and I smiled nodding.

"She is also the favorite for valedictorian." My mom bragged and I resisted the urge to roll my eyes.

I groan closing my eyes. "Mother."

"What Katrina? Being valedictorian is an honor and something to be proud of." She said looking at me.

"Mom I'm not even the valedictorian yet,
"I say as I eat my food.

"Yet." She said with a smile and I couldn't help but slightly roll my eyes. I hear Daxton coughing to cover up a laugh as I glare at him under my eyelashes.

"Oh, I just came up with a great idea. Kat since you're doing so well in school and Daxton you're just not doing anything. Why not have Kat tutor Daxton?" Joshua says and we're both shaking our heads.

"I'm sorry but I have a lot on my plate right now," I muttered as it was the truth. Tomorrow is the first night of The Brawl. It's a big street fighting tournament that spans out over three months ending right before Christmas. Two matches every two weeks until they lead up to the final fight where the winner receives five hundred thousand dollars. This year will be the first year that I'm going to compete in it and I can't afford distractions.

"Yeah I'm busy too and I don't want a tutor," Daxton muttered.

"Katrina I'm sure you can fit Daxton in and besides you go to the library for work almost every day anyway." Her mother says.
