In a dark cold room, screams echo, and could be heard from down the street... The wind crashing against the small fragile Windows, in a tall building. An event like this was found unusual and rarely happened... A new child was being born within the district at the birth center. Such events were unspoken of. No one understood, just listened. Within the district no one wanted to end up being different, or special. Nothing ever changed in the district either, no one even remembers what was "before" the District, It just was...

Around five new children were born every three years. At birth the child is first given two different assigned sets of numbers to be identified with; one was first given almost instantly after birth, and the second at the age of fifteen. first they receive a random five digit number until  the child is five months old, and the guardians were to strictly call it by that name only, until the five month period ended. This mother by the name Savannah, gave birth to a male child, and the assigned number of-#62215.

*Five months later* Savannah was cradling the small child in her soft pale Arms. She stared intently at the tiny helpless child with the big, bright eyes. But something else about the child's eyes were different, she could tell... A few minutes went by and she soon noticed they were blue. Savannah hadn't really seen the color blue as much as she would like. The names of colors had no meaning within the district, so they were not named often. In fact, Not enough to where she could barely identify the colors and their names. Not much had blue anymore inside the district. Most items or furnishings were beige, white, grey, brown, or black.

She actually felt bad that the child was born with blue eyes. No child was born with blue eyes... but possibly brown, or maybe green. Blue was considered a mutation, and was different...Very different. Savannah knew all these things, but strangely enjoyed the unique child, and found herself amused looking into it's blue eyes. About an hour went by, and the child slowly drifted into a calm sleep. Savannah took time to notice the breath that was taken so carefully and calmly by the child, and the peace it felt as it lay cradled in Savannah's arms.

...But as soon as Savannah began to relax, Her old phone rang loudly from the other side of the room. Savannah was quickly awoken from the peaceful trance, and was given a fright from the loud drill noise coming from the phone. It was rare or considered extremely unusual to receive any type of phone call, and happened only on special or bad occasions, and even then they still happened rarely. Savannah rushed to the other side of the room hoping the child wouldn't be awoken again, but it was no use... The child kicked uncomfortably in her arms while the noise coming from the phone echoed in his small fragile ears. He was no longer sound asleep. Savannah's cold hand grabbed the dusty phone. She answered in a dull and exhausted tone, she muttered the sound, "He-" Savannah meant to say hello, but was quickly cut off by the strange voice of a man...
