"Julie! Get down here now!"Usually I would answer my mom with a sarcastic remark or somethingbut today I'm just too excited. I'm finally turning sixteen, whichmeans I'm finally turning into my wolf and might get my mate.

I got into the shower, did mybusiness and got out. As I walked out of the bathroom, I saw myarrogant brother watching me with one of his famous smirks.

My brother, Jake Parker, is theschool's main player. 6"2, black hair, gorgeous blue eyes,muscular, oh his muscles are soo.....

" Morning princess. Are youdone looking?" He still had that evil smirk on his beautiful face.Omg, what is wrong with me ? I never think of my brother like that.

"Morning asswipe" A smirkplayed on my lips as his have a frown.

" I came to say that I willtake you to school, mom and dad already left. So I'd advise you tohurry." he left. I poke my head through the hall.

"What! So no happy birthdayJulie! Unbelievable." I closed my door and got dressed. My mom letmy brother buy my dress this year and honestly I'm not surprised atwhat I got. He bought a turquoise mid-thigh dress. It's not my typeof dressing but I'll accept it. I slipped on my white flats to matchwith the small white belt. I let my waist length red hair down andput a little eyeliner and mascara. I grabbed my book bag and walkdown to the kitchen. I bit into an apple. There was no sight of jake.I looked out the window and for sure he left me. Great. I'm gonna belate.

I started on my fifteen minuteswalk to school. Halfway to school, the most intoxicating scent hit.It was a mixture of mint, rain and the forest. My wolf was jumpingaround inside and was very excited. That could only mean one thing. Ifound my....

" Mate." a deep voice calledbehind me. I turned around wanting to see his face, and I quicklyregret it. His eyes were dark and it looked like he was lookingthrough me. His fangs were out and his skin was pale. Although helooked scary, he looked beautiful. But wait. What is a vampire doingin a town full of wolves and human. "Wha-what are you doing here?Are you trying to get killed?" I can't believe a vampire is my mate.It's against the laws. I must reject him or else. As I look up totell him, he disappeared.

"come on julie! We're gonnabe late!" I turned around to see my best friend Emma waiting in hercar. I hopped in the passenger seat and she drove off.

I wonder why he left. Heshouldn't have left. I needed to reject him. I really don't want tobut it's for the best. My father will definitely not approveespecially as he is on the council. He know the laws by heart and heraised us with it. I can't imagine what they will do me no, what theywill do to him. But there was something else that bothered me. Helooked too familiar. His hair, the shape of his jaw, and most of all,his voice.

"Julie, Julie! We're here.Jeez. What are you thinking about? I've necer seen your face soserious."

"Um..nothing. I – uh –we're gonna be late. Let's go."

" Okay but first. Happybirthday chica." she squished me and then handed me a little box. Ismiled.

" Emma you know you didn'thave to - "

" It was nothing. Now , openit." I laughed. I open the box and a gasp excape my lips. Insidewas a gorgeous necklace, with a half heart on it. It had aninscription on it that said "Best" and half of the wordforever. I looked up confused.

" Where's the other half?"she reached for her bag and took out a necklace just like mine. Ismiled. " Why aren't you wearing yours? Wait let me guess, you werewaiting for me to put mine on first."

" Yes now go ahead cause Ican't wait any longer." I make her latch mine and I latch hers.

" So what time to pick you upfor jason's party, well your party that jason's hosting?" She wasfixing her hair and make-up in the mirror.

" Around 7. I have to finishmy maths assignment." Jason is my brother's best friend and also aplayer. He's hosting my birthday party only because I kissed him.Accidentally. She nodded and we both exit the car. Walking throughthe halls, I expected everyone to just ignore me like always but Iwas wrong. Some girls gave me glares, others wished me happybirthdays and the boys, well, they watched with lust cause of thedress. I hadn't been watching where I was going so I crashed into awall, or so I thought.

"So we meet again. I see themoon goddess don't play when it comes to mate matching." I lookedup noticing the voice from this morning and all the years of myschool life.

"Noah? But how? You don'tsmell like a vampire and what are you doing in a school full ofwerewolves? Are you mad?"

" I – uh masked my scent. I -"

" No wait! Why did you vanishon me this morning? You just left without another word.

" Well I – uh read your um –thoughts." He whispered with his head down. He what!

"You what! Why?" I can'tbelieve this guy. He just keeps breaking the council rules." Avampire must never, ever read a werewolf's mind" That rule isjust after the rule about the mates. Omg.

" I don't know. You werethinking about rejecting me cause of a stupid rule. I need you. Ineed my mate." He growled out.

We walked to English togetherand we had a free double period so we just continued talking.

" Anyways, just give me achance. Please?" His eyes were pleading and he had an amazing pout.I gave in quickly. He squashed me into a hug. I hope nothing goeswrong.
